Reggae rhythms and lyrical moods â roots reggae, loversâ rock,
10 MP3 Songs
WORLD: Reggae, WORLD: World Beat
Details:
The realization of the dream of Life has been a
three-year labor of love for Ijahlar, but has been
three years well spent. The compilation represents a variety of reggae rhythms and lyrical moods â roots
reggae, loversâ rock, and some crossovers are all
represented. The magical interaction of all the multi-talented musicians playing on Life creates an enchanting
blend of classic sounds that would make Bob Marley & The Wailers proud. Mixed and produced by none other than the legendary Scientist, Life is truly close to the heart of dub reggae.
About Ijahlar:
Joseph Emmanuel Connor (a.k.a Zaro) is no stranger to the music scene; his musical exploits began in his early teens,
and at 15 he was a member of a string band of siblings and close relatives called the âMissing Brothers,â playing Guera shortly before turning to the bath-pan bass.
At 17, Zaro took up the 12-string acoustic guitar, which further helped to develop his interest in the discipline; he spent quite a bit of time listening to a variety of music, including calypso, reggae and soul, and had grown to the point where he was capable of leading the band. Zaro was responsible for renaming the group to he âMusical Brothers,â which became a fullyelectric outfit. It was in this setting that Zaroâs passion for reggae music grew,
combined with the influential songs of Steel Pulse, Aswad, Dennis Brown, Bob Marley & The Wailers, and Israel brations. Growing up in the 60âs at a time of learned entertainment and Bob Marleyâs Influence had a deep influence on Jey. At that time, competitive sound systems such as Sir Coxgon Hi Fi, Duk Reid Hi Fi, King tubby, and Prince Buster among many others were hired out to play in any part of the country, and it was into this scene that
Jey grew and met his producer Ijahla, who encouraged Jey to get serious about his music and put aside everything else to bring his music to the people.
