Details:
Larry Janacek (Yan -a-check) was born in Astoria, Oregon and raised in Seattle, Washington, where at the age of eight he began his study of the viola. As an only child and relative of the famous composer Leos Janacek music has always been a calling that was strongly supported by his parents.
" One of the greatest things about growing up in Seattle was the music," Larry remembers. Even in grade school they offered an opportunity to play in an orchestra. It was strongly encouraged, however I needed no encouragement. I always knew that this is something that I should do. I originally picked the violin, however the violin section was full and I ended up with a violin using viola strings. The school program was short on full size violas and it probably would have been too large anyway. So that was just fine with me."
Unfortunately Larry's parents needed to move the following year and this hindered his ability to continue the viola. His love for music only increased and he longed for further release.
At the age of thirteen Larry discovered the guitar while visiting a relative who happened to have one sitting in the family room. Larry picked it up when he arrived and has not put it down since. From that day forward the guitar would serve to fulfill Larry's need for music. When not in school Larry could be found practicing either in one of the many neighborhood bands that he formed, or locked in his room. "I was so fortunate to have the best guitar teachers in America such as Howard Roberts and Don Mock," Larry recalls. " I was always looking for that magic lesson that would give me the secret to becoming the best guitarist in the world. As I grew I discovered with the help of these gifted teachers that each person has their gift to offer and the joy is in the journey."
Larry continued playing in various rock/jazz bands during his high school and college days, and after college began his professional music career playing in various show bands touring the United States.
After several years of travel and just getting by Larry decided to put music aside, as a full time career, and build a family. Larry entered into Corp. America where success has given him the foundation to continue his love and passion for music.
Larry continues to use a steady paycheck to woodshed and compose and has added classical guitar, bass guitar, and piano to his instrument list. In addition Larry has his own studio where he can truly create without the need to alter his music to fit any commercial need.
" The time has arrived for me to realize my long time dream. To once again join forces with my spiritual calling and express my creativity to the world," states Larry. " I long to help people to find peace in this difficult world of ours. It is my hope and prayer that my music can, if only for a moment, give the listener rest and comfort. There is a higher calling."
