I grew up to the Beatles, Dylan and the Rolling Stones. I sang to Linda Ronstandt and Janis Joplin. I didnât really focus on songwriting until I saw The Who in 1982. They blew me away! What Dynamics! What power! I started playing piano, guitar and writing songs. I joined an all Woman band in 1984 and many other bands after. I began to listen a lot to Joni Mitchell and was influenced again with the pure acoustic and lyrical lines Joni wrote. I did a lot of recording during 1985-1991.
Then in 1992, I started attending music courses at Santa Barbara City College and in 1997 received an Associates of Art degree in music. While going to the city college I recorded the songs that are currently on this web site for sale. I performed my song, And I Fell to David Crosby during a songwriting course and a wonderful article was written of that experience in the college news-paper. I then transferred to University California Santa Barbara to continue my musical education and in 2000 I received my B.A.
In 2004, I formed a band with my son Dylan called, Jmuse. Dylan plays drums, percussion and keyboards while I play guitar and sing. Dylan and I played solo for a few years before adding, Steve Emanuel on bass and Todd Grant on guitar and vocals. Jmuse is a family. We play Benefits and are currently recording new songs to add to the web site. www.jmuse.net
Also in 2004, I attended a songwriting workshop called Summersongs and had the pleasure to work with some professionals, like Kenny Edwards (Stone Ponies with Linda Ronstandt) and Wendy Waldman (producer and songwriter). Penny Nichols who runs the program makes you feel all warm and cozy. I left there ready to write and re-write. The sound of Jmuse is California Folk/Rock.
