Details:
Christian Boy, originally released as Dotted Line in the fall of '84, has been meticulously re-mastered at The Green Stairs in Oakland CA.
The song "Christian Boy" was remixed from the original 16 track by John Cuniberti, of Joe Satriani fame, at Hyde St. Studios in San Francisco.
The original radio version is
also on the CD, features Doug Van Blaricom on guitar, Valdimir Malinovsky on keyboards, Kevin Powell on drums and Jim Clausen on bass.
"Christian Boy" was in heavy rotation at KQAK in San Francisco in '84 and '85, placing in the top ten of the Quake's top 100 songs of '85.
"Back in '82 we were all just coming out of the angry punk thing, trying to figure out what to do next.
I had just finished a rather difficult break up with my band Mr. Clean due to some serious conflicts and betrayal. The song "Christian Boy" was written as a reaction to that betrayal. The feelings I had were so strong, the disappointment so great, the song just sort of wrote itself. I believe songs can be friends and "Christian Boy" was a good friend at a very difficult and cathartic time in my life.
It was the summer of '83 when we recorded "Christian Boy" and "Wedding Bells" at Isolation Studios in Concord CA.
Prior to the release of the EP Dotted Line, "Christian Boy" found its way onto the KQAK Rock to Riches compilation album. The station really started to go on that track giving me the support I needed to get my new project off the ground.
The recording of the remaining songs sort of slipped into limbo due to Isolation Studios' move to San Francisco. Not only did they have to move the old studio; they had to build the new one.
Tracking took place around and during construction, which caused the original release date to be pushed back to the fall of '84.
Those days were a very significant time in my life.
I hope this album brings back some of that good stuff for you."
