Classic and contemporary Piano music. Schubert, Chopin, Takemitsu/Piano recital
10 MP3 Songs
CLASSICAL: Traditional, CLASSICAL: Contemporary
Details:
Kazuko Cleary, piano: Schubert, Chopin, Takemitsu, Kuramoto/piano recital
The program combines the classic repertoire with works by
contemporary Japanese composers.
Her Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall debut was a great success. Bert Wechsler wrote " It was short, it was sweet, and it was wonderful. From about the first ten measures of the opening Schubert E-flat Klavierstuck, it was unmistakable that she was a pianist filled with music and a master of nuance. For assessment of her art, I could have left then, but I stayed to wallow in what is so often forgotten, and critics are so often deprived of, the joy of music.----Cleary knew at all times just what she wanted to do, and did it cleanly and clearly.---built her reasoned interpretations.----She is a true pianist----. Critics don't applaud: I applauded."
(New York Concert Review)
"Her piano style is uniquely rare in the present time. Most of all, the subtlety of her pearl-like tones rolling through a weightless space is such as I have hardly ever heard. Kazuko Cleary studied with students of Ferruccio Buzoni and Josef Hofmann, and accurately inherited the style of the great virtuoso pianists who flourished from the end of the nineteenth century through the early twentieth century." (Yamamura Salon Review)
"The audience was intoxicated by Kazuko Cleary's uniquely beautiful ream of music with its rich, mellow tones."
(Kyoto Daily News, Japan)
Internationally acclaimed pianist, Kazuko Cleary has performed as a solo recitalist in Paris, Tokyo, New York and other cities in Japan and the United States.
Her teachers have included Jeanne Behrend, a student of Josef Hofmann; Edward Weiss, one of Ferruccio Busoni's last pupils; and distinguished Lily Dumont, for composition, Professor Earl Kim at Harvard University.
