Lacona spent nine months in the studio recording Pantomime. The result could've filled a double album with over twenty tracks. Instead, fourteen were slated for the album with the rest remaining in the archives. Until the idea of releasing singles prior to the album surfaced - giving people the chance to hear two B-sides that would otherwise never see the light of day.

"35/ half of 70" starts with an epic, eerie Wurlitzer line that is accompanied by an echoed distorted drum machine loop. Dolce's vocals come in with a psychedelic pre-delay. It captures the essence of reflected sound like motor traffic or a train rolling closer before it passes: "the train rolls by, the hundredth time today". Just as the song seems set in this mood the course abruptly changes with a drum kit and a roaring bass line doubled by a synthesizer. This morphs into a dancy electro-groove that fades out, leaving only a Morse code beep as the finale. All these ideas mirror the space where "35" was written. The space was ghostly quiet by day, but being above a noisy Chicago venue the building would shake at with bass frequencies. Here the song emulates its creative environment.

The b-sides feature songs that compliment the single they're paired with. Stuck up is a straightforward power pop song complete with bombastic drumming, Farfisa organ, and wall-of-sound guitars. The song's really catchy. Most fans that heard early leaks of the album questioned why it did not make the cut. So to please those listeners the song was chosen as the b-side for 35/ half of 70
