LISA LYNNE MATHIS (piano/vocals) was raised in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area, where she studied piano and music theatre performance starting at the age of 7. Lisa Lynne received vocal and piano training from the Interlochen National Academy of Music Summer Program and then went on to receive her Bachelor in Fine Arts in classical theatre and music from Carnegie-Mellon University, where she graduated with honors.
Lisa Lynne's early career in New York includes an appearance on Guiding Light and a Showtime Television Special with Martin Mull, as well as the lead vocalist in an avant guarde production at the John Houseman Theatre. Her one woman show at Don't Tell Mama's won acclaim. While in Los Angeles, Lisa Lynne continued her work with Tony Award winning director/playwright Mel Shapiro as a leading lady in his theatre company The Actor's Studio.
While in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Lisa Lynne studied with world renowned alto Sylvia Schlüter and sang at the Begijnhof, English Reformed Church of Scotland and then in Chicago, from 1998 through 2002 Lisa Lynne sang professionally at the prestigious Fourth Presbyterian Church on Michigan Avenue, as well as with the world famous William Ferris Chorale, the highly acclaimed Grant Park Symphony Chorus and an elite vocal ensemble, Bella Voce.
While in Chicago, Lisa Lynne provided vocal coaching and spiritual encouragement to famed rock singer Liz Phair in preparation for her Lillith Fair Tour, where she was then invited to join as Ms. Phair's back ground vocalist and tour vocal coach. Lisa Lynne sang with the Indigo Girls, Bonnie Raitt, and Sarah McLaghlan, and appeared with Ms. Phair on the David Letterman Show.
Recently, Lisa Lynne performed Do You Know What from her self-titled album at Weill Hall at Carnegie-Hall. At The Riverside Church, New York, Lisa Lynne held a standing-room-only hit solo concert, with a back by popular demand appearance entitled Women of the Spirit Sing, in November, 2005 with Gospel/Jazz artist Clarissa Taylor. Lisa Lynne sings classically with one of New York City's finest ensembles, The Riverside Choir under the direction of organist Dr. Timothy Smith, as well as with The Inspirational Choir under the direction of Grammy nominee Nedra Olds-Neal, where she is also a frequent soloist at the Gospel/Praise service, Space for Grace. Broadway Inspirational Voices' Director Michael McElroy, who was nominated for a Grammy in 2004, brought Lisa Lynne on board to record with and join this awe-inspiring Gospel group, whose recent concert was held at the Town Hall Theatre on Broadway.
Currently, Lisa Lynne serves as the Music Director for Presence, a Contemporary Christian worship service held on Saturday at Ridgeway Alliance Church in White Plains, New York, and she is often a guest soloist in worship at the newly formed Broad Street Ministry in Philadelphia.
