A dancer and actress as well, Laura's storytelling and deep feeling for the jazz that she sings give a sense of originality and newness to the standards of her show ("Laura has that rare ability to thrill you with the music of her voice and at the same time make you fully understand the meaning of the lyrics" --Betty Garrett) The summer after graduating from California State University, Northridge with a B.A. in Theatre Arts, Laura created and produced her first cabaret act, Old Beginnings, which debuted at Tom Rolla's Gardenia to excellent reviews and a
consequent request to return with her show a few months later. After that engagement she continued performing in other clubs around Los Angeles to further hone her craft. While continuing to work in musical theatre and cabaret, she auditioned and joined the L.A.-based repertory company Theatre West, drawn to the well-reputed musical theatre class taught by member Betty Garrett (Laura is no longer a
member). While in class one night, Laura met Marshall Barer (lyricist of Once Upon A Mattress) who heard her sing and featured her in his staged reading of Happy Lot starring Betty Garrett and Michael Feinstein. Not long after that, Laura joined the L.A-based swing band Swingin' SophistiCats as their "girl singer". However, missing the world of live theatre, Laura stepped back on the boards in May 2005, debuting the character of Swoozie Blessed,
a desperately struggling singer on the edge in White Buffalo's premier production of Fool Am I, to wonderful reviews. After the show closed, Laura felt the next step was to produce an album. Out of the desire for a larger platform to share this music, Laura is pleased to release
