Rock and roll â simple and crude, the way the gods intended it to be.
13 MP3 Songs
ROCK: Punk, ROCK: 60's Rock
Details:
A collective of Psychedelic/punk/street musicians perform mostly on Main Street Saturday mornings in downtown Baton Rouge until they are asked by âauthoritiesâ to leave. Every once in a while they play at coffeehouses as âspecial guestsâ of the featured act. Equally at home performing on acoustic instruments as well as in the format of a full tilt rock n roll band, their set of originals and cover versions of songs by Iggy and the Stooges, Velvet Underground, and Syd Barrett (among others) is considered ânot what people around here want to listen toâ by those who book events for local clubs and festivals. The fact that they are old (average age â 60) and vastly unattractive people does not help their chances of getting gigs. Comprised of vocalist and guitarist M.F. Lunch who is joined on occasion various friends (including Zenobia Marsh (vocals) and Nightduck (percussion)), their act is considered by many to be incredibly entertaining, and others to be highly disturbing.
A loud electric version of this band is in rehearsal.
Their cd is typical of the DIY âno labelâ music that is produced by outside music acts in Baton Rouge, and perhaps elsewhere, that are considered commercially and artistically inconsequential by club owners, local journalists, entertainment committees, etc.
