Greetings my fellow believers!! Itâs great to be here on Focused Magazine communicating with you. We all have a story to tellâ¦.whether small or great⦠because we serve an awesome God. I truly believe that this is the hour we will all be giving our testimonies. Mine is just one, but I hope it inspires you to share yours too!!

Sometimes you just never know who God will call and who He can use. If you had asked me several years ago if I would be where I am today and been through what I have; I would have never believed it.
When I came to Christ at age 13, I was a shy girl from North Carolina whose life was about to spin out of control.
How ironic that I prayed the sinnerâs prayer at a music concert â¦little did I know that I would one day be involved in music ministry.
I had only shown minimal talent musically up to that point and wasnât really interested in all the âpiano lessonsâ.
After receiving Christ however, I did begin to write poetry about Jesus, so the spark was there. Unfortunately the enemy saw that spark too and began to diligently put it out. I wasnât discipled or a part of a Bible study group and the new light in me got buried and overcome by the world and peer pressure.
I went down the wrong path for several yearsâ¦smoking, drinking and living the lifestyle of a party girl. One night after a football game my friends and I went party hopping. Everyone was so friendly (sarcasm)â¦by the end of the night I had been given 5 different types of drugs and was overdosing. I was throwing up blood and I knew this was really bad. No one would have taken me to a hospital for fear of the police and getting in trouble themselvesâ¦I was alone.
It was then all the memories of a kind, merciful Jesus came flooding to my mind and heart. As I lied there with my head spinning from the drugsâ¦I cried out to Jesus. The One I had left behind. Then a miracle happened. A beautiful light appeared in my face and I was instantly sober. It was as if Jesus removed all of the drugs from my body in an instant and I saw the lies of the enemy so very clearly. This Jesus that I had barely known had rescued me. Undeserving, foolish girlâ¦.yet He heard my cry.
My life began to change. With life and death so fresh on my mindâ¦.I was finally open to receive what came next.
On a regular day on the 6th floor of Tyler dorm â East Carolina University â I received Godâs call. I walked in the room and it was full of Godâs Presence and power. It knocked me off my feet, but I was not afraid. I heard Godâs words to me âWill you follow Meâ?
I knew He was asking for âallâ of me. I thought about it. I knew I would have to give up drugs and the lifestyle I had been living; but somehow I knew that what He was offering had much more excitement and fulfillment than this destructive path I was on.
My answer to Jesus was âYESâ.
That was 26 years ago and I have not regretting the decision even once. Has it been easy? NO. Has it been worth it? Overwhelmingly YES!! It has been a journey full of joy and pain, excitement and bewilderment; but one thing is certain. Jesus surely has delivered on a life full of surprises. His ways and His thoughts are higher than ours. The absolute delight of this journey is to unfold and discover who He is, how He feels, and how He thinksâ¦..it never ends. Just when you think you have a handle on something â He surprises you with more. If you havenât figured it outâ¦.I am crazy in love with my Savior. My calling and passion in life is to help others to realize that He is crazy in love with them too. Yes â even you! You are âfearfully and wonderfully madeâ. (Psalm 139:14)
Jesus created you because He wants you! What an awesome thought. You are one of a kind. I pray that you will seek Him and discover all He has for you. We all have a purpose. There is an incredible journey ahead for all who will seek Him.
