Details:
Chevalier Jermaine Coleman was born in Dawson, Ga., birthplace of the late great Otis Redding. Coming from a musically inclined family, he realized his calling for music at an early age. Making his debut performance at the tender age of six, Chevalier then began playing piano and organ as a full time church musician at 11 years old. After graduating from high school, Chevalier attended the prestigious Berklee College Of Music in Boston, Ma., and majored in Music Production and Engineering. While studying at Berklee, he signed with an independent record label and produced three albums for its artists. Chevalier later received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from Albany State University. He was the only student in his graduating class to compose and perform an original score for his senior recital. He also served as Music Director for a number of college theatre productions including "Dreamgirls", the national award winning "A Sista's Life In Revue", and "Black Voices", which reached audiences at the National Black Theatre Festival in 2003. Aside from teaching music in middle and high schools, Chevalier has composed, written, and produced songs for numerous independent artists and groups from both secular and sacred genres. The anointed Tri-County Workshop Choir, founded by Chevalier's mother, released its first recording in 2004. He co-wrote and produced seven songs that included "The Miracle Song" and the radio single "He'll Answer Prayer". In 2005, Tri-County and Chevalier were featured as new artist at the Bobby Jones Gospel Retreat, which can be viewed worldwide on The Word Network. Also in 2005, Albany's new R&B crooner Juice, Chevalier's cousin, exploded on the scene locally and regionally with the hit song "Kill 4 U". This Chevalier-produced track was the #1 most requested song for over 8 weeks on WJIZ (96.3) and surrounding radio stations in Albany, Valdosta, Ga., and Tallahassee, Fla. Chevalier has performed as an opening act for major recording artists RUN-DMC, Tony Terry, Rome, The Manhattans, and gospel sensation Byron Cage. Currently Chevalier is Music Director of Lightsout Entertainment, an Albany, Ga. based company specializing in artist development and management. He also serves as Minister of Music at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church whose television broadcast (Manifest Broadcast) can be seen weekly on The Word Network. Chevalier wrote, produced, and performed the theme song to the broadcast entitled "Manifest". There are no boundaries that will limit this music educator, producer, and musician. With over 16 years of music experience, he's finally released his debut album "Grown", with R&B meeting Smooth Jazz. He plans to release more albums that will explore various musical styles while continuing to produce for other artists. Named after a French movie star and a famous recording artist, Chevalier has been bound for stardom since birth.
