Did Seriphic Aliens leave yeast on Earth so that beer would be discovered, the Pyramids built, and civilization as we know it born? Or was it perhaps more a Terence Makenna type deal, with the yeast creating man to get it around the planet, a sort of anthropomorfic deity with the good of mankind being merely a necessary side-effect to the continuing survival of the yeast entity?
Well, WOULDN'T YOU LIKE TO KNOW? We all would, and yet, quiet contemplation alone will never reveal the answers. Unlike that religion founded by that science fiction writer, which is experiencing unprecedented popularity in certain circles, 24-HOUR Church of Beer does not charge ever spiraling amounts of cash for access to new levels of "knowledge", and in fact what we claim to know is available to all at a very reasonable rate, no pyramid scheme, no cash-for-thetan-level-advancement, in fact, let's face it, you can reach enlightenment right in your own home! Grab a six-pack (note: this is only a recommended MINIMUM) of your favorite brew, smoke a fattie (if appropriate to your circumstances/lifestyle choices) and you are ready to embark on a potentialy life-changing spiritual journey (results may vary. blame the quality of said brew and/or fattie). Now put that 24-HOUR Church of Beer CD on and enjoy. And ask yourself, has any religion ever offered so much, and demanded so little in return?
Formed in the deep woods of a remote island in the Pacific Northwest, 24-HOUR Church of Beer has long believed that what is wrong with modern religion is that it is hugely biggoted, often dull and restrictive in the worst ways (you can't smoke, drink, or have sex, but you can be a suicide bomber? lame.) and not very inclusive.
Well, this is one religion you can get behind (or beside. or in front of. your call) because WE DON'T ASK YOU TO CHANGE YOUR HABITS, THOUGHTS OR BEHAVIOR. We do think racism/sexism/and other nasty isms people use as excuses to hate, hurt and kill each other HUGELY suck, but rather than become another nattering voice of YOU SHOULDN'T, we prefer to emphasise our similarities and suggest a different way of approaching things. Our hymns reflect the variety in our own lives, as we make choices which ENCHANCE our natural receptivity, ENRICH our relationships with other humans, and learn to ENJOY life to the fullest. No matter what anyone claims comes after, the life of the present moment is hard to argue with. Looks real to me.
