Old school rock, soul, blues, R&B, reggae, and country rolled into one but all the while maintaining a unique, recognizable sound. The songs are catchy and meaningful, the musicianship incredible.

FOLK: Modern Folk, ROCK: Americana
Details:
Ask todayâs average young singer/songwriter who his or her influences are and youâre likely to get the same laundry list of house hold names; Dave Matthews, John Mayer, and of course John Lennon. Ninety nine percent of the time this leads to the same overplayed sound.
However, ask Daniel Byrnes about his influences and youâll begin to understand what makes this emerging singer/songwriter different. Names like the Tom Waits, Mississippi John Hurt, Hank Williams, Solomon Burke, Steve Earle, and the Rolling Stones begin to explain his grass roots, Americana, soul sound. Byrnes has always been interested in these types of career artists, not the disposable, gone tomorrow, pop act of today.
Formerly the singer/lead guitar player of the popular MA band Contruda, Byrnes recently left the group with Contruda bassist Matt Buonomo to pursue his solo project which he began assembling almost two years ago. With the help of drummer Jonathan Carafoli, Byrnes played everything else from guitar, mandolin, and banjo, to keyboard, bass, and harmonica on his debut release âConversations In Stereoâ, due out January 30th, 2007. He also recorded, produced, and mixed the entire debut album at his home studio in Middleboro, MA.
âConversations in Stereoâ, is a precisely crafted 12 track album filled with emotion, dynamics, and dripping with old school influences. These influences are the result of playing live with musicians often twice Byrnesâ age. At eighteen, an older blues musician discovered Byrnes playing Bob Dylan tunes on his front steps. He immediately asked Dan to join his band. Here Byrnes was not only introduced to blues artists such as Howlinâ Wolf, and T-Bone Walker but also soul and R&B like Al Green, and Funkadelic. The bass player of the band, who had moved to the US from Cape Verde (an island off the western coast of Africa) taught him to play reggae and introduced him to different types of world music, from African Soukous music, to Brazilian Bossa Nova. These influences rubbed off and aspects of them eventually made their way into Byrnesâ songwriting.
You can catch Daniel performing solo acoustic or with the Daniel Byrnes trio throughout the northeast this winter.
