For 20 years David Zee has played throughout the U.S. as a solo act and bandleader, as music director for the political comedy troupe Gross National Product, and as an opening act for ensembles such as the well-known Nighthawks blues band and folk favorites Small Potatoes.

His musical scores have been featured on HGTV, Discovery, and PBS, and he has received a New York Film Festival award for original music.

David's song "Children of Conflict" (co-written by Ashley Pound) won the first annual Music to Life Competition, celebrating songs of political and social concern, at the 2001 Kerrville Folk Festival.

The bi-annual contest, sponsored by Noel Paul Stookey's Public Domain Foundation, was judged by Tom Chapin, Len Chandler, Christine Lavin, Tom Paxton, Mary Travers, Cheryl Wheeler, and Peter Yarrow.

David's song "Classified" (co-written by Ashley Pound) was a semi-finalist in the 2002 SIBL (Songs Inspired by Literature) song contest.
