Details:
In the winter of 1999, lead singer Jeff Musser moved to Tacoma to attend Bible College through his church. During which time, Jeff started playing electric / lead guitar for the worship band where he met bassist Doug Stansell. Doug loaned Jeff an acoustic guitar one day (he had never paid much attention to acoustic guitars), and from there Jeff started writing songs based on the truths he was learning in Bible College. His aim was to glorify God and magnify His Word.
Through Bible College friends, Jeff met keyboardist Robbie Stoehr who at the time played drums primarily. He played drums for the worship band for a short time before moving to Baltimore to attend Bible College there.
Jeff continued to write songs over the next five years, performing them by himself in church. During which time, he was participating in a Bible study in Renton where he met the Taylor family. Over the next two years, Jeff developed a close relationship with this family, and came to love their two sons that were born during this time â Titus and Roman. In 2004, the Taylors received the terrible news that Titus had a disease known as Krabbeâs Leukodistrophy. A couple weeks later they had Roman tested and received the same news. The Taylors eventually left for Minnesota where they would have experimental bone marrow transplants performed on the boys in an effort to save their lives. Fund raising efforts were started to help the Taylors as they would not be working while gone, and their insurance only covered about half of the medical expenses.
Jeff decided it was time to make a CD. His idea was to record a CD and promote it with one-man acoustic shows where he would sell it to raise money for the Taylors. His momâs best friend knew a man (Joe) in California who said he would record it, mix and master it for free in light of the circumstances. He just needed Jeff to send him the guitar tracks, and scratch vocal tracks and he would have hi s friends do the rest of the music. All Jeff had to do was fly down there to record final vocal tracks. However, Jeffâs music is written in a lot of odd times and changes. Joe said the best thing to do would be to have a drummer play with Jeff and send the drum tracks with the guitar tracks.
During this time, Robbie (who had returned home about a year prior to the Taylorâs dilemma) was asking Jeff to come jam with his friend Josh Carper. Jeff didnât expect too much, but was pleasantly surprised to find that Josh could keep up with all the changes and odd times in his music. A week later, Jeff asked Josh to do the drum tracks. Josh accepted.
At their first practice for the project, Robbie showed up and started playing the keyboard. Jeff wasnât expecting much from that either, but found that Robbie was a perfect fit for the song they were working on. Out of curiosity, Jeff decided to try one more song with Robbie on the keyboard, and by the end of the night Robbie was in on the project.
After the next couple practices, Jeff realized that he probably wouldnât be sending his music to Joe in California. In fact, all they needed was a bass player to round out the music. So, Jeff asked Doug if he would be interested in coming to the next practice. Doug came, and by the end of the night, without even trying to put a band together, a band was formed.
Since then the band has gone on to record a 3 song demo which was released nearly a year ago. This month, (December 06'), Delve released their much anticipated full-length album. The sales of all cds go directly towards furthering missionary programs in their church.
Because the band sees the formation of Delve as the plan of God, and not the intent of man, they are excited to see where God will take them as His plan unfolds before their eyes. Look for Delve to performing extensively in the following months.
