Details:
Lead vocalist, Jay Rogers started when he was 15 years old at a church in Anderson, SC. The church had a youth camp that he attended every year. The youth camp had a talent show and a camp sponsor encouraged him to enter the talent show. He was reluctant to enter, because the only thing he knew was how to play the guitar. He performed at the talent show and won. The prize for winning was to perform at the Baptist convention held at the Greenville Memorial Auditorium in Greenville, SC. Jay performed at the Baptist convention and received a standing ovation. This made him feel great and after receiving the standing ovation, he knew it was his destiny to perform for the Lord and the people. This is what he decided to do for the remainder of his life.
Years later he moved to Rock Hill, SC. While in Rock Hill, he lived near a church that had a lot of quartet programs and a group called the Pilgrim 5 caught his attention. He asked the group if he can join and play the guitar. As the years past, Jay has been inspired by several groups such as The William Brothers, The Jackson Southerners, and Willie Banks and the Messengers. While working with Willie Banks and the Messengers, he learned a lot about the dos and donâts of the music industry, and how to be a professional performer. Willie Banks was his mentor.
Jay Rogers started The Queen City Messengers in 1997. It has been a hard long road full of struggles and sacrifices. He persevered because he knew that this was something that he wanted to do. He had a lot of members to come and go. He has finally found 4 dedicated members who have the same dream as him. Those members are Craig Morgan, Raymond Glover, Tony Cannady, and Melvin Stiles. God will make a way out of no way; you just have to believe in yourself. He played for and contributed to such groups as the Sons of Thunder, Gospel Keynotes, Dorothy Norwood, Flying Clouds, Robert Blair and the Fantastic Volumnairs.
The Queen City Messengers hope you find joy, comfort in times of sadness, and hope while listening to this CD. All things are possible through Christ.
