"One day, I felt the need to define my feelings, with vibes and sounds, with old dreams and smell. Caught in two times, medieval and cyber, here comes a generation wanting to dream and create more and more strong buildings of power and passions. Howling like wolves at night, walking on this edge of contrast, thin as a razorblade, This is the Razordog"C.Menta

Chris Menta, guitarist for 17 years, started as a session lead guitar player for many bands or personalities. He performed in several kind of music as Gothic Rock, Classical, Celtic and medieval music, slide Blues guitars,Heavy-metal and Black Metal... One of his best experience, according to him, was to have played with Rozz williams, the Artbeast.

in the years 96/97, he started to work on his first demos, with a need to record all he had in mind. Having played with numerous and different kind of bands, this helped him to feel free from belonging to a specific genre. Such decisions are often welcomed in a cold way by the new music business.

As he said :

" I already know how it will be at the begining : a hell, my friend...And this because I want to express something different, and don't want to make any demonstration nor playing the way I was doing with bands in sessions. But this is my quest, and I want to offer a "weird album" at the begining, but I know the receptive ones will understand the process...

"Rock'n Roll is supposed to smell the sulphur, so why trying to make it smell like milk ? Night's music always go back to its nature, I'm a wild kid playing with haunted things !".

Later, he will create RED BITCH PRODUCTION, where he will manage his main project, RazoDog, followed by its "brothers", Swamp-Coven : a Doom Metal album ("Green As Swamp" )and Naëzeth, a project which releases a dark/black metal music, but remain hidden.....Who knows, maybe there is a hidden song in the RazorDog's cd ? ;)


The choice of the name's production was clear in his mind, being someone passionate with symbolism, he explains:

"a kind of she-wolf, red to symbolize the burning passion, mother and muse of all creations."

RedBitch Production will become quickly a place where other musicians around could express their art, and felt interested in working with him, knowing the multifaced music world of Chris.

Several albums started to be produced there, which was also an exciting experience to Chris, as he could go on to play guitars for several tracks in different genres of Rock and Metal, etc.

About this, he says : "It could be Heavy metal, Death Rock, Ambiant, Classic, Black metal, whatever, I am born for the night's music. the main key is the vibe and emotion the musicians will spread in their songs. If I feel myself travelling through this, it is at this moment that I say ok to record them."

The first RazorDog's album, "Lucy Fairy's Club" is linked to a short story Chris wrote before the recordings. A story about some strange characters, an electronic chip, crowd enslaved by choice following a new God and system, and a place, where all lucid ones escaped to : the Lucy Fairy's Club...

It sounds like a metaphoric story doesn't it ? I will let you discover more by yourself, do have a nice travel through his website,take your time to lose yourself in this labyrinth.


After a very good article in the magazine Elegy, more people wanted to know more about his universe. RazorDog quickly grabbed the attention, but this was like becoming a kind of paradox, as many fans started to ask for everything he had recorded, but at the same time had a weird and bad criticism from the first fanzines and webzines feeling lost about his goal.

Chris already knew that reactions were going to be that way. Later, he decided to finally talk about the first album, with a long answer given to a journalist , which will be the only one :

"the first RazorDog album is more an attitude than a kind of music. Some people asked me things like "why haven't you recorded your big lead guitars you did with bands ?",or "but, is this the way you will sing all the time ? That's different than before" and so on... Yes, I play guitar since 17 years, yes I had learnt to sing in another way than the voices on that cd, but this doesn't matter to me.

"Now if magazines judge me from this, if they think that it is the only way I can do -as they always need to grasp musicians and "lock them" in a kind forever, so be it, time will tell.

"I belong to those wanting to make travel a listener, and not to stun him with demonstration. This first album is about a story I have written. I wanted a special sound, like an old one, I didn't want a big production, but a "color". Because I am more than a fan of King Diamond, I felt the influence, and wanted to give a song to each chapter from this story. I invite the people to read it on my website.

"I understand that no one could know that Razordog will go on in a dark kind of rock and Heavy Metal, but once again, an attitude had to be first,and this first album is like a challenge : will the targeted people will get it ? Night's music is always walking on this edge of contrast, thin as a razorblade...See I just found it : I play Razor'n Roll exclusively !(laughs)"
