Texas always been a ground for rhythm and blues. From King Curtis to Erykah Badu, many artists revealed the richness of the fish pond of talents which account the lone star state.
Born in San Antonio, but living today in Dallas, female singer Sassy adds her contribution to the building.
Like much of her pars, the young singer draws the roots of her art in religion.
Coming from a spiritual family, she grew up singing in a church choir, and still remember her gospel debuts : "As a child, I sung for numerous city event's, and at the age of 13, I was blessed to do a gospel radio program as the lead vocalist singing in a front of the choir."
It is undoubtedly this passion of the scene which led her to be selected for the contest of Miss Texas Padget.
Set on physical culture, the young woman assiduously practices the athletics during her high school years, and already moral forges to him beating, it which wanted to then be fastest on the ochre track color
High School finished, she enrolled in a performing arts school where she studied the piano. « This gave me more of a foundation and helped build my confidence » entrust the artist.

About this project, the meeting of Sassy with producer Steve Washington was an important stage in her career.
This last is not other than the son of songwriter Fats Washington, which in the Fifties and Sixties was at the origin of hits for legends of the blues and R&B such as BB King, Johnny Ace, Little Joe Blue or Lowell Fulson. Emerged in Dallas local scene, Steve contributed to some specific collaborations of the young woman, as well on scene as in studios, with artists from the old school such as regretted Johnnie Taylor, soul singer Ernie Johnson, or the bluesman internationally known Lucky Peterson. « It gave me valuable technique that I use everyday in my musical style » affirms with honesty Sassy.
Washington is also at the origin of the first recording as a soloist of the young woman. With Sassy first solo disc « Da Way We Likeâm », she out to prove she has what it takeâs to run with the best. The experiments of the life forged female singerâs character of beating, for whom all was not always easy. Some of the titles of which she is the author are thus testimonies of tests crossed by her.
« Stressin » speakâs on her trying to defect from a bad relationship. The lyrics or heart felt along with the experience being real in her life. Throughout the 1997 year, being was forced to live from her car, never stopped this young diva from working hard, reaching for success. « Knowing my situation was bad inspired me strive harder to the best I could be ».
Sassy continued to work as a warehouse stocker during the day and a strong stress on the stage at night making the club packing lot her save haven for a good nightâs sleep.
