Folk Rock Christian. Early 1960's classic rock. From Sun Records sound to early Beatles, Bob Dylan, and Johnny Cash and a little Tom Petty.
10 MP3 Songs
ROCK: 60's Rock, GOSPEL: Contemporary Gospel
Details:
The band is a group of friends that plays at The Gathering service at First Presbyterian Church in Harrison Arkansas. My background is in audio engineering all over the world. If you've ever watched a live music event on MTV, VH1, CMT, TNN, CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX or others you've heard my work. I was a staff song writer for Word Music in Nashville for years but did not like being told what style to write.
I played almost every track on the album. Band members George Holcomb played sax and one bass track and James White played mandolin, hamonica, and sang on Tell Me Why. Other band members that did not appear on the album are; Jamie Holt on drums, Harry Cicanik on bass, and Billy Youngblood on guitar.
I love the old music from the 1960's and wanted to capture that classic sound. Before tracking I toured Sun Studios in Memphis just to feel the vibe of the room. I also read a book that had detailed notes of how the early Beatle recordings were done. I duplicated a lot of the equipment that was used back then to capture my sound. From the mics to the compressors and the guitars and amps. All of the acoustic guitars tracks were played on a 1966 Gibson Dove that my neighbor loaned me. Recored with a U67 Neumann. The electric guitars were a Rickenbacker 620, a Rickenbacker 360-12 string, a 1976 Gretsch Country Gentleman Chet Atkins model, and my son's Les Paul. I use all Vox and Mesa Boogie amplifiers with no processing. I play an Epiphone Jack Casady bass through a 1976 Fender Bassman. Vocals were recored with a Charter Oak vocal mic through a GML mic pre. The Charter Oak is the best sounding mic I've ever used. Drums are Peace DNA series with a 1939 Gretsch snare my brother bought at a yard sale. Please let me know if you'd like me to post other useless infomation.
