With the December 9th release of their second studio album, Thirsty world, The Tryst offers up their signature blend of rock, jazz and soul, while further refining their distinctive sound. â It was really important to maintain the organic aspect of our sound so that it translated properly on the new album,â says guitarist Tristan Owner. From the triumphant cadence of âFallen,â and cryptic swing of âYou Say,â to the soft caress of âItâs True,â the twelve tracks that define Thirsty World reveal an up and coming band determined to create an exciting new niche in the world of music.
Since their self-titled debut EP released in September 2005, The Tryst has worked tirelessly, playing more than 60 shows throughout the Southwest quickly becoming one of the top concert draws in Tucson, Arizona. With a lively and loyal fan base, their performances never disappoint. Despite occasional comparisons to Coldplay and Fiona Apple, The Tryst maintains a style that unique. Drawing from a vocabulary of soul, jazz, rock and funk, The Tryst artfully laces their music with Latin and world rhythms.
The Tryst is most noted for the ethereal vocals emoted by front woman Keli Carpenter and the deceptive rhythms of David Kyle. The interplay between Taylor Bungard and Tristan Owner on bass and guitar coupled with the effortless grace of Aldy Montufar on trumpet reach beyond a specific genre achieving a subtle yet daring landscape sure to make you move.
The Tryst has been playing and composing music together for a year and a half now with no signs of relenting. With local and regional radio play, The Tryst has acquired quite a following. Their live shows are even more exciting and moving than their latest album effort. With tenacity and grace you can expect to hear much more from this local Tucson favorite.
