Rising from the ashes of previous indie-garage bands, The Morning Becomes Electric, of sunny Huntington Beach CA, is the creative work of singer/songwriter John Davis. Though a solo artist, Davis still incorporates deep and moving sounds in his songs. âPeople ask me how long it takes me to write most of my musicâ Davis adds, âBut when I tell them it takes two to three years, all they can say is âYou better hurry up then!ââ The Morning Becomes Electricâs first Album, Can We Pretend Weâre Kids Again?, released January 2007, is like finding a manâs journal on the side of the road. Upon opening, you see five years worth of thoughts with some pages torn and an inscription on the last page that asks for what many of us desire...the joy of being a child again. âI came up with the name of the album during a very dark time of my lifeâ says Davis, âOne day amongst all the confusion, I had a sudden idea to make an acoustic album with a theme about wanting to be like a kid again. I mean, everything is simpler as a child; you laugh a lot more, and have to care less about money and all that junk.â This album is that idea incarnate.
