âOrient Bayâ is a collection of sexy smooth jazz tracks featuring a combination of piano and classic analog synthesizer leads. Elements of jazz, hip-hop, classical, latin and funk influences play throughout the CD.

The music was inspired by the beauty of St. Martin/Nether Antilles. As you travel towards the French side of St. Martin from Grand Case you come across a magnificent view of Orient Bay. Picturesque flowers, pastel rooftops and a serene ocean begins to overwhelm your soul as you descend down the winding road.

Relax, listen and enjoy the view while sipping a BBC!

Behind the music:

1) "Cool Breeze" - This was the first recorded track for this collection so I felt it should naturally be the first on the CD. "Chill out by the pool" kind of song!

2) "Cosmopolitan" - Let the hot nightlife consume you with trendy casinos and cool drinks.

3) "Please Don't Ask" - While some of these songs have my vocals in them I wanted to do a song with a more verse/chorus structure. I've been a big Genesis fan for many years. I chose this early Phil Collins song and gave it a more contemporary feel.

4) "Climbing Highs" - This track features a female vocal sample from a totally different song. I thought the vocal brought a nice human perspective to the tone.

5) "Logical Melodical" - Play time on the island! This was more of a fun track combining playful piano and synth bits.

6) "Sunshine Morning" - Waking up to the aroma of French coffee! The overall playing was centered around the bossa-nova styled rhythm.

7) "Evening Shades" - The production approach was similar to the track "Cosmopolitan." An urban feel with some jazz piano.

8) "Sunshine Walks" - The song revolves around the piano riff in the beginning which created an interesting rhythm section. Another happy "sunshine" song!

9) "Fountain Bleu" - Cruising around St. Martin you encounter many wonderful views. This song reflects those feelings.

10) "Daily Grind" - A tribute to those working hard around the island catering to the needs of pesky tourists! The urban beat was a bit edgier on this track.

11) "Orient Bay" - Soft piano and vocals surrounded by the sounds of the surf. Relax and enjoy.

12) "Afterimage" - Chill with a glass of wine as the evening on the island comes to a close.

13) "Tiki Salsa" - Gather your gear and get ready to head to the beach!

14) "Afternoon Sail" - More play time on the island! I got to expand a bit on my vocals in some sections.

15) "Prelude to a Kiss" - For those looking for romance on the island. This song gives impressions of a smokey bar atmosphere with some light jazz in the background.
