Details:
Unola 2000 was a conceptual recording project culminating in the self-release of a set of 10 CDs documenting everything recorded by Unola, warts and all, in the year 2000. Unola consisted of Kade Twist, Todd Osborn, Bob Crain, and DJKaos. The music was entirely improvised and there were no overdubs. In other words, no pieces were written, composed, or learned, and all were recorded in real time.
The approximately 12 hours of performances range from fairly accessible song archetypes to difficult listening. Stylistically, the band moved through Rock, Psychedelia, Electronica, Krautrock, Dub, Alt-Jazz, and more.
A companion 2 DVD set was also produced and compiled by Akio Stribling. It includes live material as well as part of the last recording session.
