Cranium Miner's Blues is the debut release for Seattle singer/songwriter, Zig. At its core are the words and acoustic guitar of Zig. Around this, layers of synthesizers and effect laden guitars create a backdrop of sonic textures and unexpected psychedelic turns. Recorded over beautiful summer weekends spent huddled in the dark confines of the The Crimelab, Bob Meyer's Seattle studio, and fueled by late night (coffee, sugar, etc etc) binges, songs were dismantled and re-imagined. This album reflects an artist seeking to explore the limits of his creativity. The result is a complex and rewarding collection of modern folk songs. Cranium Minerâs Blues has been released as of February 2007 and hopes to spread itself throughout the world.
Zig has been in the arts since he was 6 years old, painting his Mom's face while she slept. His musical life began when he lived in Ghana, West Africa for a year, studying percussion and native religions. Moving to Seattle, WA at the turn of the millennium he co-founded the liminal criminals artist collective, which resulted in the studio project, The Liminal Criminals. Swearing off studio projects altogether, he branched off on his first solo studio project, resulting in Cranium Miner's Blues.
