Details:
The Ravlers, a very original guitar based folk rock band, unlike anything you have ever heard! They possess a truly global appeal, with their unique diverse musical texture, and accessible style. Their compositions rich in prose, delve into a multiple array of subjects, loss, lost love, sexual attraction, self-worth and earths harmony. Their complete passion and love of music is what drives them, not seeking to chase musical trends, but rather directed by their hearts and the pure preceding chord.

The members of âThe Ravlersâ band, want to kindly welcome the planet to their musical world!

We hope you will enjoy listening to our original music and will tell all your friends about us., tell the world the Ravlers have arrived! :o)

My name is William Howard Stimson, and I am the lead vocalist and lyric writer for the band. Becoming a member of a Folk/rock band was never my intention, it choose me and changed my life. Writing lyrics and composing music became a drug that I could not live without, it became a passion.

It simply was a gift that I learned to develop and use, it was no more complex than that, it was something that I fell in love with, thats all!

The following will begin to give you an idea of who we are, and will include info and insight about the band, which we hope you will find entertaining.

Anton Galeazzi: Lead Guitar, Composer

I always loved playing in the Ravlers, although I was playing in a lot of other bands and the time, I would always grow leery of not really having any outlets to create original music⦠so I would always float back to the Ravlers to fast create in a situation that really didnât put any boundaries or specifics as to what âlabel we should write in..â Also we are the best of friends and all go back many, many years..

This was also good for me being put in a real family/band situation, away from the other side of the music biz⦠Also, the bands I was playing in were mostly playing covers of Johnny. Winter, Rory. Gallagher, Robin Trower so I never really got a chance to showcase my other influences and styles. With the Ravlers, I could throw in some Bluegrass, some melodic playing and the twang of the almighty tele-casterâ¦

I always felt that music had a direct historical, sociological reason for its existence and we explored some of the aspects in songs⦠here are a few thoughts on some of the songs:

Homeland: at this point I was exploring all the union, protest songs in the genres of Woody Guthrie, Bob Dylan, just a lot of depression era singers and stuff⦠so when writing the music to Homeland, I said, this song has to have an acoustic basis to it, so those singers influenced this song⦠and the structure of the simple chords⦠also the lead is structured and concise in itâs attack.

Snowblind: This gave me the chance to use chordal flourishes and melodic embellishments. It also finally brought my telecasters into the fold, something that I never had the chance of doing.

Quilt: Pure psychedelic pop, I really like the chorus arrangement where it goes into a reel⦠I used an octave divider to build on this.

Emotional Makeup: Again, an opportunity to use the tele in an open âAâ tuning, using fingerpicks and a slide (metal) in my shirt pocketâ¦ha!

Long Way Home: ah, yes, Stratocaster heaven, here I cut loose on my Trower Hendrix influences, you have to hear the live versions of this song, smokinâ hot!

Restless Eyes: Again, here I was focusing on a simple melodic build-up.. Howard Stinson is the easiest lyricist to work with and part of the chemistry to these songs is the way the music & lyrics complimented each other⦠it also summed up my state of mind at the time.

So I just picked a few songs out of the lot to show the variety we had on these sessions, yet always sounding like the âRavlersâ⦠my only hope is that we can do this again and again and do some live playing.

Brenda E. Nixon:
Guitar, Composer, Vocalist

Bred and born in the bustling metropolis of Richmond, Québec, the Irish epicenter of the Eastern Townships. When she was nine, Brenda wrote many song lyrics on index cards and sold them to her parents for a tidy profit.

After having been kicked out of numerous bands she finally convinced guitarist Johnny Pearson that she would be an intricate part of The Ravlers. She married him to cement the deal. Not known for her wild saxophone playing, she opted for vocals. A very talented composer and rhythm guitarist she is a bottomless pit of inspiration.

Her vocals have been described by radio personality Too-Tall of CHOM FM in Montreal, as âLovelyâ on the program âMade in Canadaâ which featured her song â âBreak-Freeâ.

Johnny Vander Wal:
Bass guitar, composer

Submitted by Randy Raunch, editor of GET BENT MAGAZINE
âI was very thrilled and honored when I was asked if I would contribute to this Bio.â

Johnny Vander Wal, the man behind the âTHROBBING BASSâ runs on the smash hit cd of The Ravlers called âHOMELAND.â

Considered by many as the true heart and soul of the band, when asked what the other members felt about that he was quoted as saying âlike I really give a crap, just look up the definition of DIVA in the dictionary and you will see all of their pictures, you can have all the fancy guitar work and vocals you want but without a good bass you have nothing.â

Compared to such legendary bass players such as âFingerlessâ Freddy Perkins, and âAll Thumbsâ Stump Morgan, just to name a few, his ability to keep the beat is flawless.
âA true and genuine talentââ¦â¦â¦â¦â¦Poll Makortny
âA true inspirationââ¦â¦â¦â¦â¦Ching Chung, bass player of the Chinese Band, Chui Sum Dung
Johnny Pearson Guitar, mandolin, composer

Submitted by Jacqueline Raunch Von Snydermannbergsteinofski
Cultural liaison for The Reboot Journal

âIt is with honor and excitement that the tears well up upon my cheeks and run down my new silk blouse when ask to contribute to this thing here.â

Johnny Charles Pearson:

The man to the far right away from the âThrobbing bass âGuy, the fish not the instrument. Whose fancy fandangoling compositions allow Mr. Vander Wal to throb his bass, the instrument not the fish.

He has been called Johnny Mitchell by his band mates because of his unabashed glorification of the merits of the Great Canadian Joni Mitchell, her fine talents and fancy guitar work. Although Johnny unlike Mitchell, appears to suffer from TMCS (Too Many chord syndrome) a malady of playing too many variations of the same chord.. ability? or a strum stutter.?

Quoted by to his Contemporaries as:
ââThe go to guy to press the record button at practicesââ
ââThe greatest guitarist ever to be turned down in the mIxââ

ââ The most awesome, greatest incorrigible guitarist that I have never heard ofâ¦ââ Jon Lenaon

ââHeâs inspirational man..I think I heard him play in church, once, at a wedding, I went tooââ
Guy in second row on the grooms side

COMPLETE HOMELAND CD LYRICS:

Homeland : Lyrics: W. Howard Stimson, Music: Anton Galeazzi
©1986-2011 W. Howard Stimson, Anton Galeazzi

Many have fought for our precious freedom,
Many have died for our liberty.
Stand tall for what you believe in,
Our courage has set us free.
Pull together brothers and sisters
Sow the seeds of love and peace.

Some will rise up to fight oppression
Some will struggle silently, in the homeland

(chorus)
Homeland, Homeland, Homeland, Homeland,
Homeland, Homeland, Homeland, Homeland,

Our voices must be united, throughout the country we will sing.
This soil is our lifeblood, where we declare our pride and strength.
The children are the promise, guide them so they will learn
Teach them to share together, with hope to grow up strong.

Our nation was built on truth and honor.
There will someday be equality.

Look into the eyes of your sons and daughters, listen to what they have to say.
Talk to them in the tongues of wisdom, speak to them in the language of peace.
This earth is marked with our restless spirit,
our souls will live forever forevermore in the homeland.

SNOW BLIND © 1986-2011 Lyrics: William Howard Stimson, Composer: Gerry Pearson, Johnny Pearson

Iâm taking time to find out to find out which is right,
Iâm taking time to find out though the night.
What glows back to life when I feel them?
What makes them try to feel them?

What makes them come to me like I was blind, oh
and it was snowing all through the night love.
Makes me feel blind in the light dear,
and then there was no more light dear.
oh Lord, make me feel all right dear
What makes me feel alright, dear?
I guess this is alright now babe,
you know the lights on now babe , Oh baby.

Well come and make me feel like I know it,
I guess, I guess itâs about time to show it.
I got a time when Iâm feeling right, Iâve got a wise man in night,
Oh my snow blind, Iâve got a wise man in the night, oh my snow blind
Iâve got a wise man in the night, oh my snow blind friend.

Oh make me feel like I know it,
Make me come back and show it.
Show you know it, and make me know it now.
Snow blind, snow blind, snow blind in the night.

Every town and every people, I guess they all got to go,
because I donât know what love feels like and I guess you donât know.

The rush of the waverlay (she needs it every day).
The rush of the waverlay (we need it every day)
The rush of the waverlay
The rush of the waverlay

La,la la la la la la

Quilt Lyrics/WORDS :Gerry Pearson, Howard Stimson, Music: Gerry Pearson Johnny Pearson
© 1978-2011 Howard Stimson, Gerald Pearson John C. Pearson

Blue sky, Green sky Red sky White.
I sing on the the porch and swing all night
I watch the stars fall from the sky up above, and I guess I'm going to be here all night.
Good bye blue sky, white is what I wanted.
Holding me here and holding me right.

(Chorus)
Quilt, Quilt, Quilt, in our lives.
Quilt, Quilt, Quilt, in our lives

Blue sky, Green sky Red sky White.
What am I going to be doing tonight?
Guess I had a vision, saw her in a dream,
the one little lady with knowledge to scream.
River running down to the valley.

(Chorus)

Blue sky, Green sky Red sky White.
Come to the rainbow shine tonight
High road, low road, straight road, right,
Which way we gonna go there tonight?

(Chorus)

Blue sky, Green sky, Red sky White.
What are we going to do tonight?
I dreamed I had a vision on a silver bird, and I planted some roses in her hair.
Well, everybody's talking to this beautiful thing and sheâs going around in a most unusual way.

Emotional Makeup lyrics: W. Howard Stimson, Music: Anton Galeazzi
© 1986-2011 W. Howard Stimson, Anton Galeazzi

The illusions of attraction in our emotional makeup,
Plant the seeds of feelings, restlessness, and doubt
Reaching out always wanting more, there never seems to be enough.
The illusion of attraction, not knowing what to trust.

I want yours, you take mine are you ever truly satisfied?
Running around with our heads cut off,
Yet behind our masks we choose to hide our Emotional Makeup

(Chorus)
Emotional Makeup, Emotional Makeup, Emotional Makeup

The illusions of attraction in our emotional makeup,
Plant the seeds of feelings, restlessness, and doubt
Having that and using this, until we get just what we want,
Consumed by the illusion, of our motional Makeup

(Chorus)
Emotional Makeup, Emotional Makeup, Emotional Makeup

We can't live together, (NO) we can't live apart (Heart)
Adrift on the sea of compromise, part of lifeâs emotional makeup.

(Chorus)
Emotional Makeup, Emotional Makeup, Emotional Makeup

Down on you, down on luck, down on the one that I trust.
Down on her, down on me, down on the one who set you free.
Down on you, down on luck down on the one that I trust.
Down on her, down on me, down on the one who set you free.

(Chorus)
Emotional Makeup, Emotional Makeup, Emotional Makeup
Makeup ( x 12)

ThankYou © 1986-2011 Words and Music: John C. Pearson

Thank you for the love you gave.
Thank you for the happiness we made.
We didnât have much, Sometimes it seemed
as if the world was against us,
But you were all I could see, but you were all I can see.

Thank you for your tenderness.
Thank you for all that you gave.
The love we made was everything to me.
You made the sky blue on a cloudy afternoon.
You made the moon smile for awhile.
Thank you, Thank you,

Many a night danced and swayed.
I cried for the happiness you gave.
The smooth soft skin within my loving arms
Forever it seemed we have always been.
My love, oh what you gave to me.

Thank you for your letters and words
Thank you for love I never heard
Iâll always have you in my heart.
Forever and a day

Thank you, Thank you,
Thank you for the love you gave
But you were all I could see
Thank you for the happiness we made
The love we made was everything to me
Thank you for your tenderness
Forever it seemed we have always been.
Thank you for giving all that you gave
Oh what you gave to me.
Thank you for your letters and words
Iâll always have you in my heart
Thank you for love I never heard
Forever and a day
Thank you, Thank you.

The Widow Cries in Lebanon Lyrics: Howard Stimson, Music: Johnny Pearson
© 1983-2011 Howard Stimson, John C. Pearson

I hear the rumble of the tanks in the streets,
A lot of tanks they rumble, rumble in the streets,
A lot of tanks they rumble, rumble in the streets.
You see the widow cries in Lebanon they are doing oh, so so much wrong,
They cry the bloody tears of war, the tanks have gone and left their scars, left their scars.

A lot of tanks they rumble, rumble in the streets
A lot of tanks they rumble, rumble in the streets
A lot of tanks they rumble, rumble in the streets

And I don't have to tell you whatâs going down here, all the people living in despair.
Murder, jive leader, lay them deep, you gotta see how many bombs the people can eat.

The tanks they rumble, rumble in the streets
A lot of tanks they rumble, rumble in the streets
A lot of tanks they rumble, rumble in the streets
No more buildings, no more streets, no more nothing get the beat?
No more people, no more love, no more friends you just can't have, you just can't have........

So shall Babylon, the great city be thrown down with violence shall be found in thee no more.
And the sounds of harps and minstrels, of flute players and trumpeters shall be heard in the no more.
And of craftsman of any craft shall be found in thee no more.
And the sound of millstone shall be heard in the no more.
And the light of the lamp shall shine in thee no more.
And the voice of bridegroom and bride shall be heard in thee no more.
For thy merchants were the great men of the earth, and all nations were deceived by thy sorcery.
And in her was found the blood of prophets and saints, and all who have been slain on Earth.

You see the man down there he shot his gun, he laid the child six feet down,
With no emotion on his face, just another war just another place.
Hear the rumble, hear the roar....
You see the widow cries in Lebanon, their doing oh, oh so much wrong,
She don't cry no tears no more, the tanks have gone and left their scars, left their scars.
The widow's crying the widow's crying, the widow's crying, in Lebanon, in Lebanon, in Lebanon

Breakfree: Words & Music Brenda Nixon

Heard the news yesterday
I Listened to what the people had to say.
Talking about us with closed minds,
fitting soap opera sagas to our lives.
Everyone applauding our success
Now we can take a rest
Weâve gone and passed the test and itâs all according to their plans.

I heard the news today,
I sat there and listened to what my friend had to say.
She spoke of your double delight.
Sheâs talking to me about how your reaching new heights
She said â Everyone applauding your success
Now you can take a rest Youâve gone and passed the test and itâs all according to your plansâ.

And on that note the news a while ago
Was about your choice to put it all on hold, their talking about how your so burnt out.
Their even saying youâve gone and you lost your clout
Everybody is doubting your success, they donât understand your need to take a rest ,
Cause they never had to take the test and that its not according to their plans.

Gossip flow goes round and round, got to get more news down.
Your turn to be the talk of the town,
Going to boo or clap their hands,
only only only if you follow their plans,
only only only if you follow their plans
break free break free break free

Restless Eyes Lyrics: W. Howard Stimson Composer: Anton Galeazzi
© 1986-2011 W. Howard Stimson, Anton Galeazzi

Just a little uneasy, canât seem to sit still.
Soaking up the action, I am not sure just what to do.
A quick glance side to side, whoâs that sitting over there?
Another breezy flirting look, I try hard not to stare.

If I had answers to the questions, would I be this way today,
I donât even feel a little bit guilty that I can treat us girl both this way.
Maybe Iâm a king of fools in a one act tragedy, lost inside the endless scenes of what a fool should be.
I struggle to control this emotion inside my head.
The stranger excites me and I canât stop feeling that desire.
Eyes that finally meet but say weâd like to see, what it is Iâd say to you and what youâd say to me.

Restless eyes are never satisfied they only keep on searching for the ultimate high.
Restless eyes over your shoulder they will gaze, words lost exploding, your heart frozen in the haze.

Just a little uneasy, canât seem to sit still,
The stranger she excites me and I know then, just what Iâm going do.
Eyes that finally meet but say weâd like to see what it is Iâd say to you and what youâd say to me.

Restless eyes are never satisfied, they only keep on searching for the ultimate high.
Restless eyes over your shoulder they will gaze, words lost exploding, your heart frozen in the haze.

Loosen your grip
Lyrics Words: W.Howard Stimson Music: Johnny Pearson, Johnny Vander Wal , Anton Galeazzi
© 1986-2011 W. Howard Stimson Music: John C. Pearson, Johnny Vander Wal , Anton Galeazzi

Looking inside outside twice, as you walk around me,
caught in double conversations,
I simply strain to find the key.
Recovering from what I thought would surely be disaster,
Moving eyes watch from afar are you your brothers keeper?

White Line Lyrics: Howard Stimson Music: Johnny Pearson, Gerry Pearson
© 1978-2011 Howard Stimson, John C. Pearson, Gerald Pearson

I am walking on the white line darling,
Where does my life begin?
You know we have our reasons girl,
you better believe it my friend.

Standing on the outside getting used to it,
listening to the cross talk never seems to quit.
The white line goes on forever lord,
bringing me close to the end.

We are walking on the white line darling,
where does our love begin?
You know it takes a long time girl,
to find the truth my friend.

Shades of grey and blue,
my vision tends to dim.
Don't know if I'll ever see you again?
The white line goes on forever lord.
Please send some hope my friend,
please send some hope my friend.

(chorus)
Loosen your grip stop controlling me,
Preachers who teach us how we should behave.
Loosen your grip, you might get what you are after,
Loosen you grip, stop trying to play the martyr.

Looking inside outside twice as you walk around me,
caught in double conversations,
I simply strain to find the key.
From where I stand it makes you look much smaller,
Your need for control is all you have to offer.
Eyes that are clear, yet your vision isolates you,
knowing me once, hasn't made you any smarter.
Loosen your grip, you might get what you are after.
Loosen your grip, stop trying to play the martyr

(whistle -out)

Long Way Home - Lyrics: Howard Stimson, Music: Johnny Pearson
©1979-2011 Howard Stimson, Johnny Pearson

I guess I'm still hoping maybe she'll come back to me,
There's so much I can tell her now that she's free.
All the women that I loved, they all loved me,
how can I tell her, I just can't seem to see

Woman don't you know it's a long, long way from home again.
Woman don't you know it's a long, long way from home, again.
It's such a long way Home

I guess I'm still hoping, maybe he still loves me,
There's just no use pretending, I just can't seem to see.
Of all the men that I loved, you meant so much to me
If I ever find you, but that will never be.

Lover don't you know it's a long, long way from home, again.
Lover don't you know it's a long, long way from home, again.
It's such a long way Home

Reach out and touch, set yourself free.
The tears in the darkness, do you still love me, do you still love me.....

Every now and then you know,
I get kind of lonely but itâs alright, because I know someday, somewhere I'll look over my shoulder,
and you'll be there, and we will never be alone again, we'll never be alone again.

It's such a long way home, It's such a long way home, It's such a long way home
