So who is Jeremy Kimball? I mean the real Jeremy Kimball? Is he the beer swigging, tobacco spitting, roughhewn character that cuts a wide path wherever he goes? Or is he the warm, sensitive, caring lug that can sing a pretty song like âSweet Thingâ? Believe it or not, heâs both!
In an age where every artist and project needs to be labeled, this one is easy. I call it Blue Collar Bluegrass Music. With Aaron and Erin Youngberg supplying the musical drive (ânuff said) and Jeremy the voice, it was easy for the rest of us, Willie, Glenn, Geoff, Susan, and JDK, to complete the band.
So grab a beer and a dip⦠and a tissue, and enjoy this CD!
-Clarke Wright, Fiddler
Seriously though, Jeremy Kimball was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia. He grew up on the opposite side of the Mason-Dixon Line in Marietta, on the banks of the Ohio River. The son of a high school /college band directer, he played the trombone and baritone in classically based bands from age 9 to 16. He discovered traditional bluegrass after moving to Ft. Collins CO at age 18. He picked up the guitar at age 22 and currently plays rhythm guitar on an HD 28 Martin and sings lead and tenor in The Stanleytones Bluegrass Band. His vocal influences, among others, consist of Keith Whitley, Charlie Moore and Dave Evans.
This CD was produced and recorded by Aaron Youngberg at Swingfingers Studios in Fort Collins, Colorado. Along with Jeremy on guitar and lead vocals, it features Aaron Youngberg on banjo and vocals, Erin Youngberg on bass, Clarke Wright on fiddle, Willie McDonald on mandolin, Susan Dailey on mandolin and vocals, Glenn Zankey on vocals, Geoff Sluyter on vocals, and John (JDK) Kennedy on snare (on 'Skid Row')
