Joe Baldassarre is a doctor of classical guitar performance, coordinator of music history and classical guitar studies at Boise State University. He has contributed several articles on the Middle Ages and about the medieval lute.
On this CD, all 15 instruments (plucked and bowed strings, winds and percussion) as well as the vocal tracks are performed by Dr. Baldassarre. This CD was selected as "Best Lute Jam of 2007" by The Statesman and brings out the excitement and beauty of the late Middle Ages.

A long-time musician of varying styles, Joe was a studio guitarist for major labels in his native Cleveland, Ohio in his mid-teens. Even after turning to academia in his 20's, he continued to be active as a performer in both classical and popular musics.
He is musical director of The Academy of St. Giles, and early music ensemble specializing in European music of the Middle Ages and a noted medieval luter.
