The Coltrane Incident started when Woody (Vocals and Guitar) and Steve (Vocals and Bass) met at The Berklee College of Music. They have been songwriting and musical partners ever since. Heath (Drums) has been a long time friend and musician prior to his tour in the Army. We combine Rock, Blues, Jazz, Pop and Classical influences into a style we call Infused Retro Rock.
We are equally at home in the recording studio as well as the stage. Woody and Steve each have 24 track home studios. Woody is an avid gear junkie with a collection of vintage guitars, amps and effects. We are always experimenting with new recording techniques in search of The Ultimate Tone!
Our influences are many. A few of the ones that come to mind are: The Beatles, Todd Rundgren, Nils Lofgren, Jeff Beck, Aerosmith, Cheap Trick, The Yardbirds, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Jesus and Mary Chain, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Peter Green, Buddy Holly and even Cole Porter.
Our name? We have a dog named Coltrane who accidentally knock over a mic stand onto a very expensive guitar. Hence, The Coltrane Incident.
