Meet Jazzy Blue "the one man band"
Jazzy Blue is a "one man band" in that he plays the keyboard, left hand plays bass and right hand chords and solos, he programs drum machine which provides driving exciting rhythm. This is a sophisticated MIDI project and Jazzy will amaze you because of all that he does as one person. This is not a "pretend to play" product, this is how he sounds in person on stage. The quality and strength of Jazzy's voice are rare. Some say his voice reminds them of Big Joe Turner in his heyday. When you hear the words of the all 10 original songs on this CD, it will become one of your favorites of all time. It really is passionate and well done music that is "cross genre" in style.
With driving baritone vocals he is a "blues shouter" as in the title song "That Ain't all I Wanna Say," but you'll want to hold your lover near when you hear the sweet vocal on "He'd Give Her Anything." This song could become Country Song of the Year.
Jazzy wrote two Caribbean hits for the project: "Crucian Gurl" (Reggae) which he is marketing to promote St. Croix USVI and "De Crucian Cherry Go Pop" (really hot Calypso).
Joining Jazzy on this CD is Lynn Nelson (All Tenor Saxophone; and background vocals with Renae M. Wilson on "He'd Give Her Anything" and "My Heart Just Started Loving You").
Where Has Jazzy Played
Jazzy has played in Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Luxembourg, and Belgium with Big Jack Johnson and the Oilers (Handy Award Winner 1997) as his opening act and organ player. He received standing ovations in most of those places and looks forward to touring Europe again, to play his own music. Before this, Jazzy played in the Washington DC area with Bobby Parker and the Blues Night Band, as keyboardist for about a year. He booked his own tours to Australia (2 ½ mths.) and New Caledonia in the South Pacific. In Australia he played the East Coast Blues Festival as a last minute "fill in." After that performance he was booked up and down the East Coast of Australia (From Brisbane to Molly Mook) for the remainder of his tour.
Since these experiences he has played mostly in the U.S. and British Virgin Islands.
Background
Jazzy grew up in Buffalo NY. On the night that he gave his life to Christ it was revealed to him that he was a singer and that he would sing before thousands all over the world. He had never sung in public before in his life. His life was changed forever in his commitment to God and his pursuit of his calling to sing. He recorded and sang gospel for years. With the help of Star Paroadi (female keyboardist on The Arsenio Hall Show) and Andrew Woolfolk (Saxophone: Earth Wind and Fire), both of whom performed on Jazzy's 3rd gospel recording, Jazzy released this project to some acclaim.
When Jazzy settled in the D.C. area he started the Jazzy Blue Band and played for years in local blues clubs and restaurants. He has played for wedding receptions, corporate events, Bar Mitzvahs; also the DC Blues Festival, Folk Life Music Festival, all in the D.C. area. As of the year 2000 he performs in the Caribbean at resorts, beach bars, and restaurants; at Harbor Night St. Croix, and festivals.
Look in the local papers in the U.S. and British Virgin Islands for Jazzy's schedule. But he'll be coming to a venue near you soon. In addition to his own music he performs "Oldies but Goodies", and classic R&B such as Motown hits. See jazzyblue.org for promo and info. He can be reached at jazzyblue@jazzyblue.org and at PO Box 1716, Frederiksted, St. Croix USVI, 00840.
