Off On A Tangent is an up-and-coming act from Boca Raton who is influenced by all ends of the musical spectrum. Fronted by Jordan Sherman, (guitar and vocals) the band delivers catchy and energetic songs that are only reinforced at a live a show. Maximo Cortese on the drums has changed what being a rock drummer is all about, laying it down with passion, finesse, originality, and consistency. Shermanâs lyrics relate with global issues that teens face including anything from relationships to making it through the day. Scott Rowell, the lead guitarist of the group, is heavily influenced by the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and others from the golden age of rock guitarists. Amongst this eclectic blend of music, Gavin Good holds the band together with clever and solid bass lines. Put it all together, and you have a young, talented rock group that creates catchy music for both younger and older audiences.

The band is in the final stages of putting together their first CD release recorded and produced by Phil Plakson at Liquid Ghost Studios. âIn Your Eyesâ, a hard-hitting track on the upcoming album, yields lots of distortion and heavy guitar riffs that are accented by melodic vocals making a catchy and heavy song, which brings out the bands darker side. Punk anthem âHere I Am Againâ is fast but doesnât lose touch of virtuosity when it comes to Rowellâs guitar solos and Corteseâs intricate drum fills. âIt Got to Meâ displays Shermanâs song writing at its best with a clean upbeat sound, emotional storytelling lyrics, and the most memorable melody brought forth on the CD. The rest of the album doesnât fall short of any of the songs mentioned, and explores many different realms ranging from cleaner tones, to ska, and even a little funk.

The band has a magnetic energy to their live performances, drawing new listeners at every show with their great stage presence. Drum solos that pound at the heart and have the crowd leaving their feet, guitar solos that blow their minds, and cool intros and finales that leave them screaming are all major contributors to this great stage presence. The diversity evident on the CD is more than apparent at their shows where they mix high-octane tunes to electrify their fans with heart-wrenching ballads and play covers from Lynyrd Skynyrdâs âFreebirdâ to Rage Against the Machineâs âKilling In the Nameâ.

In just over a year, the band has won the Boca Raton Battle of the Bands, came in 4th place out of over 150 bands in over three states in a $25,000 national battle of the bands, came in 2nd place at the Murphyâs Law battle of the bands in Hollywood; FL, came in 3rd at the 2006 South Florida Fair Battle of the Bands, played at the renowned Club Revolution several times, and play many local venues and parties throughout South Florida, also playing for parties on the Jersey Shore in the summer.
