Born in Harlem USA to a Show Business family who wanted me to become accountant against my passion for singing and the Arts. One day I realized it was all good. Recalling my Grandma saying, "Sing sweetly." Aunt saying, "Be cool." Father saying, "Be smart!" So slowly I began to surface in Show Business having survived negative politics, gangs, drugs and crisis after crisis and becoming friends with various entertainers. Through the years I sang background and lead in various vocal groups finally settling with the Hall of Fame "TONY & HELEN WILLIAMS PLATTERS'" Those ten beautiful years were juicy with unbelivable experiences made possible by Evelyn Whitting Johnson. Again crisis when Evelyn died leaving me feeling dead and alone inside. Healing slowly with the help and encouragement of inspiring friens: Betty Hill, Patrick Adams, alicia Patterson, Alphonso McGruder, Opia Myst, Terry King of the Drifters and last but not least the late great amd famous Grant Kitchens of the INK SPOTS who told me, "Keep the tradition of performing the songs that plant seeds of hope, healing and love!" Some call me James. Some call me Red. Some call me Silky James. I perform every song with that special touch right from a totally dedicated heart to you.
