From National Public Radio to the concert stage, from the classroom to her home studio, Tish brings her flavor of musicâmaking to communities across America. With contagious joy, Tish invites her listeners to sing and play at every opportunity. Musical sharing is what RUM TUM MUSIC is all about.

Tishâs songs evoke vivid imagery of people and places around the globe with expressive lyrics and worldly arrangements. From soothing ballads to toeâtapping rhythms, Rum Tumâs journey is a joyous one.

Tish began Rum Tum Music Company in 1988. Songs from her recordings were featured each week on Public Radioâs Musical Enchanter Radio Theatre. For this national series, Tish received a National Endowment for the Arts Grant for radio production.

Tish performs for festivals, benefits, libraries and schools ... diverse settings for diverse audiences who share a universal love of music.

For me songwriting and performing is a vehicle to express positive imagery, vivid imagination and shared human experience. As an artist, I work to create songs for children and adults to enjoy together. Through my music I seek to foster unity among generations â and itâs this critical mission which guides every artistic and business decision I make. TISH MCFADDEN


What underlies everything Tish does is a love of music, a love of children and a love of the outdoors. As a childrenâs music educator, many ideas for her music programs originate from her experiences writing and recording three CDs of original childrenâs songs for her music company, Rum Tum Music Co., from years performing family concerts, teaching private music students, and her many years working as a music specialist in Ashland elementary schools. She lives in Ashland, Oregon where she devotes her life to writing music, teaching, and caring for her family.

In 1988, Tish created RUM TUM MUSIC COMPANY: a thriving business which manages to combine her two passions: children and music! Her private music school in Ashland, Oregon offers classes in piano, guitar, flute and choir. She also writes, performs and records her music designed to entertain family audiences; adults and kids equally relate to her universal themes and singable melodies.

Tish McFadden, founder of Rum Tum Music Co., believes in a style of song writing which is accessible to all ages. As a lyricist, she explores universal, cross-cultural themes, positive self-imagery and fond reminiscences of early childhood â each with, she aspires, an honest simplicity.

The melodies I compose in support of these lyrics stem from a variety of musical styles yet have in common the important quality of being easily remembered. My songwriting flourished professionally in 1988 when I launched Rum Tum Music Company in Ashland, Oregon â the vehicle which continues to drive my artistic endeavors.
