Rich imagery evokes ancestors' westward adventures, Lewis and Clark's "capable crew" and Victorian era tales of death and survival, in these original songs by singer-guitarist (and well-known artist) Teresa McNeil MacLean.
15 MP3 Songs
FOLK: Traditional Folk, FOLK: Gentle
Details:
While Teresa McNeil MacLean, a singer-guitarist and song collector, has been a popular folk song, poetry and art teacher in Santa Ynez area schools for over twenty years, she has been a finger-style acoustic guitarist for twice that long. Previous recordings are: "Murphy/MacLean: Homemade for the Holidays", and also "Come Sit by My Side" and "Teresa McNeil MacLean - Guitar", both no longer available. As an artist, she is well-known for her unique colored-pencil landscapes; as a poet, she teaches children to express themselves in public readings. Her passion for sharing the songs of our history with her students, plus her wish to make poetry an exciting part of their lives has led to the words and music of her own songs that bring history to life as they tell its stories.
"WEST; Trails from There to Here" highlights several true stories of Teresa's own ancestors as well as those of Lewis and Clark's crew (a MacNeil among them), and several other Victorian era tales of death and survival. Three traditional tunes , played by Joe Dickerson on the Scottish small pipes, transport the listener to the time and place of those whose stories are in these songs.
