We Should Be There By Now here By Now
The Trios debut album features original songs by me - Aled Thomas (piano, vocals) set in the context of a jazz trio featuring Nick Kacal. (Double Bass, bvs) and Jasper Morrissey (drums, bvs). Put simply the concept was to take these songs to a jazz trio situation and see what would happen. In recording we were concerned that the sound would not be produced beyond the trio playing a live gig so we recorded the trio live in two sessions. The result is a sound that is a big mixture of things. It certainly has elements of jazz but solos are kept short and minimal. The songs are left to stand up for themselves instead of providing a platform for improvisation. Therefore this album isnât strictly jazz. Or is it? Maybe itâs Pop? Maybe itâs Rock?
