Broken Hearts Broken Strings offers 11 new originals by Sides. It features former Heartbreaker Stan Lynch on drums, guitar, percussions, and background vocals; Grammy winning musician Ronny Cates on bass and guitar; and guitarist Jeff Sims who also produced the record.
In the tradition of the Eagles and Tom Petty, Broken Hearts Broken Strings is an acoustic-based album layered with melodic guitars and poignant vocals and is a lyrical and musical masterpiece. Very few artists write with the honesty which flows from the pen of Barry Sides. Fewer still write about love and loss with his conviction.
The title track, Broken Hearts Broken Strings, finds Sides wishingâ There was a AAA for hearts that break down along the wayâ. In his song, He Left Her, Sides states âIf leavinâ her wasnât right, how come he slept so good the night he left herâ. When singing about his being left behind in I Hate This, Sides sings âI hate this, pretending it does not hurt, acting like I donât want back up her skirtâ.

He asks forgiveness, and asks for us to pardon him in his song, Excuse Me, as he explains âIâm impulsive, demanding and charming, sometimes Iâm dangerous too, addictive Iâm hooked on seduction, give me time and I will seduce youâ.
It is difficult not to be seduced by Sides as his powerful, soulful voice dares you to agree with him or to turn off the record. Turning off Broken Hearts Broken Strings is something listeners will find hard to do.
