His lyrics are filled with reflection, passion, and a yearning for the balance of power in a homophobic society.

HOW DID YOU GET YOUR NAME?

Itâs a nickname I was given by my friends when I was younger. Then it turned into meaning more like âTop Dogâ being the leader and never the follower.

2. HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN EMCEEING?

I was the front man in 2 bands in high school and that began when I was 15. And we had some 311 inspired tracks that had some similar patterns to hip hop. But I have been focused on doing strictly hip hop since 2004 after I discovered gay hip hop. I knew this was the platform to share my stories.

3. WHAT FIRST ATTRACTED YOU TO HIP- HOP?

The way it could inspire and impact people by simply sharing your life lessons with them. I also enjoy the fact that you can deliver justice through words and rhymes.

4. WHERE ARE YOU FROM?

Born and raised in Fremont, Ohio. A little city with big city problemsâ¦to say the least.

5. WHAT'S HIP HOP LIKE WERE YOUR FROM?

Where I am from people really get into the âgangstaâ hip hop. They like the hip hop that spoke about the dark side of the streets and all of the money driven things that come with that. Once we hit college we were inspired by artists such as Wu Tang Clan, Redman, Kottonmouth Kings, and really discovering the power of reggae, and Bob Marley, which was very exciting.

6. IF YOU COULD DO ANYTHING ELSE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Live in Amsterdam and run a coffee shop.

7. HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR SOUND?

Conscious hip hop that will use the music to help break down the barriers associated with all inequality.
8. FAVORITE BOOK?

Running With Scissors.

9. FAVORITE ALBUM?

Snoop Dogg : Doggystyle

10. TOP TEN RAPPERS IN YOUR OPINION?
Of the top of my head and my ITunesâ¦. Snoop, Dre, Eminem (even though he says some things I donât like, he has mad skill), Big B, Kottonmouth Kings (3 of them), South Park Mexican, Haystak, Method Man,

11. WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST RAP CONCERT, WHAT WAS THE EFFECT IT HAD ON YOU?

My first Rap concert was Kid Rock in 1996 at The Asylum in Toledo. It was crazy there were only like 100 people or so there. The show was absolutely amazing because it was the Early Morning Stoned Pimp Tour and Joe C was just starting to do the shows with him as a part of the act. Kid Rock, Kracker and there band ripped that stage up for a good 2 hours. It took lmy love for music to entire new level.

12. LAST MOVIE YOU SAW?

How High.

13. IF YOU COULD GET PRODUCTION FROM ANYBODY, WHO WOULD MAKE THE TOP THREE?

Dr. Dre, DJ Michael 5000 Watts, Mike Kumagai.

14. HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THE STATE OF HIP-HOP?

I think it need an underground revitalization. The people need to explore other forms of hip hop, instead of manifesting on the crap they have been forcefed for so long. So I think sites like MySpace let the people speak out and find the artists that they connect with.

15. IF YOU COULD CHANGE ANYTHING ABOUT HIP HOP, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

This is actually the journey I am on now. I am going to bring a new voice into hip hop that will speak for the underrepresented gay community. I donât want to take over hip hop. I just merely want to integrate our messages into the culture as well. Hopefully on day to tour alongside major âStraightâ hip hop acts.

16.* DO YOU THINK THAT THE GAY HIP HOP AUDIENCE IS BIG/STRONG ENOUGH TO SUPPORT YOU, AND DO YOU THINK THE STRAIGHT AUDIENCE WILL GIVE YOU A CHANCE?

I believe the gay audience will stand behind the artists that truly make an impact on them through our messages. The artists that can inspire social change and speak for the masses will get great support from the community from all angles.

This same artist will also be able to grabs a straight audience fan base because hip hop is really not about gay or straightâ¦.its about how well you deliver your message.

17.* CAN A GAY ARTIST BE SUCCESSFUL IN HIP HOP?

Sure, we can be just as successful as an major act. It just needs time to develop. Since it is relatively new meaning within the last 10 years or soâ¦. The people just need to find out about it to make it grow. The main problem is that more than 70 of the community doesnât even know we exist. Once we get major exposure we can change that.
