When she was only 13, Chelsea Williams was inspired by classic singer/songwriters like Neil Young and James Taylor, as well as the contemporary Lilith Fair Artists of the day, like Jewel, Sarah McLachlan and Sheryl Crow. She has been writing and performing her own music ever since. With a few early-teen years spent in two different working bands, at 17 Chelsea decided to take the stage solo, and set out to make her own mark in music. While some of her early songs are still hits to her growing fan base, she has continued to develop as a writer, penning nearly 100 original songs to date.

Not content to sit around and wait for it to 'happen', and with the intent to 'make it', Chelsea's passionate pursuit of her art and willingness to play anywhere where people might get turned on to her music is having the desired effect: she has been an invited guest on several radio shows, has been featured on XM radio's The Village (ch. 15) many times, is starting to get press attention, has been invited to feature film movie sets by captivated producers, and will be a guest for a new local television show, Backstage: Los Angeles (the only new artist featured so far).

When Chelsea posts one of her new cuts on myspace.com (where she currently has a loyal fan base of over 31,000 and growing), it often becomes one of the top rated downloads. Chelsea is starting to get the attention of producers and labels seeking real talent and new music that reaches a broad audience.

Chelsea's clever, honest lyrics and her strong musical hooks, stick in your head in that mystical manner that makes you want to hear them again and again. Her song subjects reach across age boundaries, appealing to the younger set of which she is a part, yet also reaching older listeners who are drawn in by great original song writing that reflects and pays homage to what has come before. With songs like âBenji Is A Hippieâ, âYou Don't Wanna Knowâ and âUndecidedâ one feels as if you have listened to three different writers with the same beautiful voice.

Ms. Williams' voice has been described as soulful and natural, and yet itâs strong and in control. Her enchanting vocals are complemented by her proficient guitar skills (both finger-picking and flat picking styles). Seeing Chelsea live, it is obvious she is one of those rare artists with no need for vocal tuning or studio tricks.

Chelsea currently makes her living on the streets of L.A and the Hollywood club scene, playing for tips and selling her self-crafted recordings. She has sold thousands of CDs this past year, one-by-one, simply on her own on the street. If youâre walking down the Promenade in Santa Monica and you suddenly hear a voice in the distance that draws you in over all the other music and noise, most likely thatâs Chelsea. Her voice and magnetic presence are the bait and her songs set the hook.
