Claudette Miller, Baubles, Bangles & Blues

Everyone knows that in order to sing the Blues, you have to live them. In our time we have come to hear of and experience historyâs greatest Blues icons. âThe Bluesâ, sung by icons such as Muddy Waters, BB King, Bobby Blue Bland, Albert King, and Jimmy Johnson can conjure up tears and heartache from the hardest hearted stick in the mud. It takes the skill of a dark poet to pull at the strings of oneâs soul. Masterfully plucking away at your, âlife done gone wrong once again bluesâ. Youâve got to also have a voice that is coded in the resonance of blues vibrations, to effectively tell your story. All that and a kick butt story line, and youâre clearly on your way.

Chicago has been long known to produce a bevy of Blues artist who hold fast to the Blues Industry, constantly regenerating new talent from Buddy Guy, Otis Rush and Ms. KoKo Taylor to Little Milton you can pop into a blues club, and catch one of your favorite artist hosting, and serving up some blues, on a blue plate. It is then, when you get to experience the new talent that has begun to sit in and wail their sad stories to the captive audiences.

Claudette Miller is one of those figures. Raised in the sixties, singing do-woops on the corner, and praising God on Sundayâs in the church choir, Claudette began to color her voice and her experienceâs that came from the times she was raised in, bittersweet stories that became âThe Bluesâ. She received her first opportunity to portray her talent on the stage with the late âAlbert Kingâ. She has continues to work on sets with names such as the late, Alvin Cash and Ted Taylor. Claudette Miller holds her audience with a gutsy and gritty sound that spoils innocent ideas of happy love. As you walk through the trails and pathways of her sometimes amusing stories, you casually become entertained like reading a good book. Her ability to keep the audience focused, speaks well to her tenure studying under the earlier mentioned blues greats

It has always been Claudetteâs dream to sing âThe Bluesâ; although she has sung, and has included jazz pieces in her repertoire like the great Diana Washington, Nancy Wilson, she pulls all the punches, allowing her gifted sounds to weave the story, and her phrasing to praise the hookâs that locks you into the finish.

Here lately you can find her holding court withâ Tenry Johns The King Kong Rockerâ recently opening up for such greats as Ronnie Baker Brooks. Realizing that she is uniquely blessed to be performing on stages with artist who have won their star on the walk of fame; Claudette Miller continues to prepare herself for her growing success. With an upcoming release of her first Blues CD,â All In Timeâ it is inevitable that her infectious style and talent will reach a greater audience. Soon Chicago will give flight to another Great Chicago Blues Legend, and we will all sit in and on Chicagoâs Grant Parkâs green grass, and festively applaud Claudette Miller, someone who sings the âBlues in F,â Frankly stated, with Familiar pain and with Fantastic delivery!
