The self-titled CD, Deirdre, includes the song "Hey Mama," which inspired a call from Ben Fong-Torres inviting Deirdre personally to be one of the first few independent artists included in the early launch of Myplay. Dave Marsh from Rolling Stone Magazine says, "Here's a daughter's reminiscence of her mother that sticks with you; a whole lot of lyricists could use her sense of imagery."

Some liken Deirdre's style of music to a cross between Sarah McLaughlin and Janis Joplin (at her sweetest). She combines hypnotic melodies to her moving lyrics in a way that adds an edge to traditional pop-folk style. Deirdre has been called, "a skillful poet who can be witty and poignant with equal precision."

"Hey Mama" has recently been included on the compilation CD, Simplify, a benefit for the Wellness Fund.

4th Fret was given an honorable mention in the 2000 John Lennon Songwriting Contest.
