Influenced strongly by James Taylor, John Denver, Jim Croce, David Wilcox, John Prine, Harry Chapin, and Don McLean.
In 2000 & 2007, Derek was selected as a finalist in the Kerville NewFolk Concert Series. This is a high profile, international songwriter event where over 1,600 original songs are submitted every year by artists all over the world, and 32 players are taken. This series was started on the recommendation and direction of Peter Yarrow of "Peter, Paul, and Mary" in 1972.
Derek has opened for Livingston Taylor, The Pure Prairie League, David Bromberg, and has performed at such venues as:
*The Bitter End- Greenwich Village NYC
*University of Maine-Orono
*Nightstage- Boston, MA
*St. Joseph's College-Hartford Connecticut
*Boston College
*Kerville Folk Festival
*Geddy's- Bar Harbor, Maine
Born and raised outside the Boston area, he now resides in Houston Texas and will be releasing his second CD "Where We Hide" this spring.
