Details:
The band formed in Champaign, the hometown of the University of Illinois, in May of 2003. After a few months together, the band decided they needed to record a few songs. They enlisted recording engineer Mark Rubel(of Hum fame) to record and co-produce them. Broken Day entered Pogo Studio in September 2003 to record their self-titled CD. Several months' later nine songs were complete, with two of the songs featuring a live string section arranged by Dorothy Martirano. The CD was then sent off to be mastered by famed mastering engineer, Alan Douches, of West West Side Music in New Jersey. During the making of the CD, the band stayed busy by continuing their rehearsal schedule, working on new songs, and playing shows at the biggest venues in town.
Ever since Broken Day played their first show, they have been drawing huge crowds and creating quite a buzz. With their energetic live shows paving the way Broken Day has had the honor of sharing stages with bands such as Local H, The Junior Varisty, Modern Day Zero, The Dog and Everything and many more national and regional artists. With 2005 well under way the band looks forward to writing new material, returning to the studio, and hitting the road to expand their fanbase by playing as many shows as possible.
