Above are a few of many great responses that fueled the release of On Half Mast.
This a real solo effort. DL performs all vocals, intrumentation, and mixing. Only years of experience could pull this off. The album was scheduled for a later release but compelled by the ongoing wars, DL felt On Half Mast had to be heard now.

The song On Half Mast was written and recorded in December 2006. In February, spurred by the 'troop surge' planned in Iraq, DL sent email to radio stations asking if they would listen to On Half Mast and if they would play the song.
Twelve or more college and Pacifica stations said they would. DL mixed another eleven songs and released the album On Half Mast in March 2007.

DL writes lyrics that are down to earth and filled with the experience of life suffering. Lost love, and the longing for better times are themes woven throughout. The songs On Half Mast and Childrenâs Children touch on the politics of our lives while And Move Up and On the Mountain are inspirational. Out of Law and 68 South 17 speak to the romance and tragedy of an outlaw life. The three love songs Never Forgot Her, Down To Us and Is Our Love are surprisingly moving and sensitive. A far cry from the raunch blues rock of Faithful that begins this set.
