Born in the Boogie Down, Da Bronx, NY, the personality known as El Capitan has gone through many incarnations. Formerly known as, Milt Boogie, Big Daddy Don, Da Grizzzz , and his TV personality Mr. Black, to name a few. El Capitan has been in the entertainment game a long time. Raised up in South Jamaica Queens, he was influenced by music at an early age, grooving to the tunes of James Brown, The Motown Sound, from Aretha to Millie Jackson ⦠and immersing himself in all types of music
His mother is a music buff who spent who great deal of her youth at Harlem hot spots such as the Savoy, Red Rooster and used to drag her son there and he would select songs from the jukebox.â¦.

It was then that El Capitan wanted to be involved in music. He started D-Jaying at neighborhood parties, rubbed elbows with the likes of DJ Red Alert, ⦠. Many a night was spent in his make-shift studio of his grandmother's basement, honing his craft and creating his rhythms - an eclectic blend of hip-hop, soul, jazz, classical and blues.
El Capitan's alter ego Mr. Black was the host of a long running entertainment and variety show in New York. The show aired on public access and was called "Metro Chatter".

El Capitan has performed at venues in different cities, including, New York, Brazil, Florida and most recently, the Dominican Republic.

El Capitan was born out of his love of Latin music and culture.
