Sia Samimi & Lloyd English's original compositions are truly a unique and exciting blend of styles and idioms not only musically but guitaristically as well. Their public performances have been received with raves and their original repertoire continues to grow both in size and diversity with maturity of vision. There are many great guitarists on the Canadian music scene but none more original and exciting than these "guit-artists". The styles move from Flamenco to Persian to Jazz to Latin with firey rhythms and finely crafted arrangements and melodies. They have thus coined the term "Flaperjalatin" for their composition and playing style which is completely their own.

Sia and Lloyd met on December 31, 1999, and almost immediately began to collaborate on an original album and performance project. Sia had already recorded three CDs of his guitar compositions, but had for years been searching for another guitarist to share his vision of a percussive contemporary ethnic and stylistically blended ensemble. Sia's middle eastern (Persian) background is apparent in his own material with the use of eastern scales and rhythms as well as the use of the guitar as a percussion instrument. Sia performed in a three week engagement at EXPO in Hamburg Germany where his music was received with great enthusiasm.

Lloyd English has played guitar since he was 12 years old and has worked solely as a professional musician for most of his life. Lloyd has performed as a rock, blues, jazz and classical guitarist in venues from night clubs to concert halls. He lives on Salt Spring Island, B.C.
