Bio:
Erik Smith and the Yes Men

This touring band has played from as far east as West Virginia to the West Coast capturing excitement and attention everywhere they play. Their latest album, Greeley Sessions, has been two years in the making, proving to be ESYMâs most anticipated record. Combined, this band shares an incredibly diverse set of influences such as Chicago, Tower of Power, Billy Joel, Elton John, Eagles, and the Funk Brothers of the past, all the way to Daniel Bettingfield, John Mayer, Dave Matthews, Jason Maraz, and Death Cab for Cutie of today. Each member of ESYM has been trained at the collegate level in Jazz Studies, Classical Performance and Theory, and has performed in a multitude of concerts both as solo artists and as a group.

These are a few comments that ESYM has been receiving:

âThe new album is amazing. Every song has its own personality, sound, and vision - great music, great sound, great guys. Keep an ear out for these guys.â
â Andres Sena, DJ, 90.7 FM KZUU

â[Erik Smithâs] vocals are un-paralleled!â
- Jake of Ether Hour

âErik Smith and the Yes Men build and improve on the local indie-rock scene!â
- Moscow-Pullman Daily News

âFinally! A band who is doing something new in this town!â â Finn McCoolâs, Seattle, WA

The Band:

Jim Steiner (electric bass) joined Erik Smith in the spring of 2005. With a degree in History, he has perfected the art of âless is moreâ in his style. Donât let that fool you. He can still lay down some funky licks that have become crucial to the sound of the band. He is a student at the University of Idaho and hails from Sandpoint, ID where he grew up with music. His father, a local music shop owner, had Jimmy listening and playing the classics when he was just a little boy. Now, he plays music all over the place! Whether itâs laying back for a nice balled or rocking out to a faster groove, Jimmy gives it all heâs got, even if he plays bare foot!

Todd Rubie (drums) is a percussion major at Washington State University where his work ethic has put him at the top of his studio. Coming from Bothell, he is perfect addition to the band. Before joining Erik Smith's group, Todd played with a punk band called the Hobby. This new switch has provided a large outlet for his sound. With all the different styles to play from bossa nova to rock and swing, Todd has been ready for the challenge. Todd gives the band that extra drive that makes audiences keep asking for more! And, although he plays with outward emotion, heâs got a heart like a teddy bear! He works hard for the music, and you can hear it!

Erik Smith (vocals) Born of parents with masters degrees in music, he is self taught on guitar and has training in both vocal and percussion music. The bandâs newest album is being completed and features a great variety of sounds and talents! Erik Smith and the Yes Men are becoming the most sought out group in their area, and itâs not hard to see why! They look forward to giving you the most incredible show youâve seen in a long time, guaranteed!

Owen Peth is a graduate of Agriculture from Washington State University. Among his musical talents, he performs Trombone in Jazz II, Trumpet for the Cougar Marching Band, and Keyboards for WSUâs high energy Crimson Revue show choir. Owen is a song writer with an incredible voice that has been a huge addition to the ESYM sound. Heâs the kind of musician that everyone wants in a band. He is completely versatile while being able to blend with his musical surroundings. You will love his stuff!
