In 1998, just when the cyber revolution was starting to worry the bean counters at the major labels, a band of veteran musicians, disenchanted with the direction of music in general and sensing that there was the definite sweet scent of change in the air, pooled their pocket change, locked themselves in a small rustic barn and recorded an album to be primarily marketed on the web. Their debut album "OLD LIONS (in the world of snarling sheep)" would go on to change the indie landscape forever. Mixing arabic and Indian tonalities with hard, art and progressive rock, ANUBIS SPIRE was born and went on to forge a totally unique sound and exotic image that has since been copied by many other bands - some of them now signed to major labels.

In the years since it's release OLD LIONS has racked up over five million downloads worldwide and spawned a number of internet "hits" such as "Underneath The Roswell Sun", "It Has Been A Long Time, Hasn't it..." and others

The 'Best of the best' indie artists featured on this tribute CD have taken their favorite ANUBIS SPIRE tunes and redone them in their own inimitable signature styles. We're amazed at not only their incredible performances but how these songs continue to resonate in the hearts, heads and fingers of a new generation.
