A Children's CD you'll actually enjoy listening to? A childrenâs CD with sounds you'll like (reminiscent of Bonnie Raitt, Jimmy Buffet, Pat Benatar and more) and lyrics that appeal to kids ages 8 and under? Give a listen and decide for yourself.

KIDS/FAMILY: General Children's Music, KIDS/FAMILY: Kid Friendly
Details:
Music, particularly guitar music, has always been a part of my life. The soundtrack for my childhood was the classical guitar music coming from my dadâs bedroom where he spent hours playing the music he loved. I loved to sing so it was natural for me to take up the guitar to accompany myself. When I hit the âtime to support yourself yearsâ I got a degree in early childhood education and became a preschool teacher. Thatâs where I learned just how much fun it is to play for and sing with kids. We (Miss Peggy with her autoharp and me with my guitar) led daily music circle times and I had the opportunity to learn just what kind of music the 3 â 5 year old crowd was into. Turns out the songs Peggy and I had the most fun singing were the songs the kids liked the best. Something with a good beat, something with amusing or imaginative lyrics, something gross (o.k. that was primarily true for the 4 and 5 year old boys), bottom line something fun.
Because preschool teachers make considerably less money than they deserve I had to find a different career to support myself. So I went back to school (got a B.S. in Chemistry of all things) and gave up working with kids. But time went by, I became pregnant with my son and I was inspired to write music for kids (my kid in particular). I started off writing lullabies (I guess born of my desire to have a baby that would sleep through the night), then I moved onto writing songs to sing to kids when they are awake. My first ânon lullabyâ song was Kid Courageous I had the opportunity to sing it to the kids at my sonâs preschool and got an excellent response. That was all I needed to motivate me to continue writing songs for kids. I write songs that I have fun singing with the hope that kids, along with the adults in their lives, will have fun singing them too.
