Founded in 1995, Bruised Apple was formed in Bayside, NY . It all began when Louie, an aspiring singer, approached lead guitarist Tom Harmon, and then rhythm guitarist John Cuccia, on the front steps of Bayside High.

After a few sessions at the local rehearsal studio, Mann rapidly discovered the true talent and hidden potential his fellow schoolmates possessed. Soon after, the original trio crammed endless rehearsals into their busy schedules and later recruited long-time friend, and Rhythm guitarist, Steve Gutierrez, followed by bassist Tom McMahon, who was accidentally uncovered by Mann in chemistry class. Cuccia, a beginning player, then took over drums.

I suppose you could say Bruised Apple started like any other High School garage band, whose sound and style were ever-changing, always inspired, even during the early stages of their career in a post-grunge era best known for its youthful rebellion and... what's that smell? "Smells Like Teen Spirit"
But Bruised Apple's original style as well as their creative writing, is what set them apart from most other local bands. Mann's lyrics, inspired by then-broken relationships, were full of deep emotions and sincerity, his voice luring you in synchronized desperation. Song after wailing song, all five members of the band drew a faithful following, and after two successful Battle of the Bands, they made their name well known.

The band's many influences included, but were not limited to by 90's rock bands the likes of: Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Soundgarden and so forth. B.A. also drew a lot of influence from 70's rock icons such as: Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Doors, Hendrix, and more...

Originally named 'Trippin' Dog' then changed to 'Eternal Buzz' and finally to 'Bruised Apple', the band took to the stage, bringing their own original sound playing local bars and nightclubs in NYC such as 'The Voodoo Lounge', literally turning the many heads of both patrons and scene on goers.

Nothing like B.A.'s music had been heard of during that time. The band's live performances were extraordinary, and in many cases, mind boggling, such were the fan-based reviews. B.A. saw this as a major sign that bigger things were to come. This was their cue to take the next big step: Record the debut album: 'Time Expired'.

Sorcerer Sound Studios, located in NYC, was the ideal choice, being as bassist Tom McMahon worked there as an assistant engineer, later on to become a full time engineer. This opened up many opportunities to work with an assortment of very talented engineers on the B.A. project.

During the late 90's, Bruised Apple entered Sorcerer with high spirits and determined to knock out some of their greatest material, a carefully chosen set from a collection of hundreds of songs.

Time Expired was recorded and mixed during a vigorous 48 hour period, a non-stop roller coaster fueled with nothing but pure rock n roll, (and thanks to coffee and a few extracurricular activities) helped the band get through the roughest part of the sessions.

At the end of their 2nd day in the studio, in this case, early morning, the tapes stopped rolling and it was time to pack it up. (As you can see, this is where 'Time Expired' derived from.)

A warped, yet magical experience, Bruised Apple shined in their moment of truth and delivered songs meant to capture our hearts for ages to come. The proof, as they say, is in the pudding. In this case, a taste of B.A.'s own blend of apple-sauce. Buy this CD. Trust me, you won't regret doing so!
