KAT GRAHAM REALEASES NEW CD - "PICTURES OF YOU"
Floyd Native Pays Tribute to Her Roots by
Featuring Songs Co-Written with Famous Nashville Talents
Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains is a quaint town called Floyd, Virginia. It has become a Mecca for traditional, old-time bluegrass music. Inspired by a rich family tradition, Kat Graham, a native of Floyd, has produced and released a new CD titled "Pictures of You.â
Kat moved to Nashville by way of Houston, Texas in 1984, and has since had the honor of working with an amazing array of successful writers and performers. Those who co-wrote songs that are featured on âPictures of Youâ include:
* Don Shlitz, famous for "The Gambler" , âForever and Ever Amen" and "I Feel Lucky.â
* Janis Ian, Grammy-award-winning artist well-known for her hit "At Seventeen."
*Marc Rossi, who wrote âCould've Heard A Heartbreakâ recorded by Ronnie Milsap.
*Elizabeth Hill, successful Mohawk Canadian songwriter.
*Janey Street, former Arista, Capital and Warner/Repirse recording artist/songwriter/producer.
The title track was written by friend and featured acoustic guitar player Roy DeSha. The last song on the album called âSteppinâ Stonesâ was written with publisher/songwriter J. Francis Keaus and recorded by Lorrie Morgan as a cut on her âGreater Needâ album, which featured Vince Gill and Travis Tritt.
Kat and Roy recorded âPictures of Youâ with accomplished musicians such Robin Ruddy, now touring with Rod Stuart; Deanie Richardson, former Patty Loveless fiddle player currently on the road with Vince Gill; legendary pedal steel player Bobbe Seymour, who has worked with everyone from Elvis to Wynonna Judd; long time friend and bass player Susan Charnley currently working with Wall of Jules and Two Chix & a Drum.
Old family photos of Graham and DeSha family members are dispersed throughout the CD package, including an early 1900âs photo of the Dodd Creek Mill, which still stands on Route 8 on the outskirts Floyd.
