The Red Willow Band existed in South Dakota from 1974 to 1982. Their business card read "Red Willow Band.....the best in country swing". Two albums and several singles were recorded and released, with one single "I Wish I Had Your Arms Around Me" reaching #97 on the Billboard Hot Country 100 charts for a whopping 7 days. The band made numerous TV specials for South Dakota Public Television, hosted the successful NEMO series of outdoor festivals, and toured nonstop in the upper U.S. from Washington State to New York City.
The Red Willow Band has had several wildly successful reunion concerts, the most recent of which was recorded for this CD â Red Willow Band â Reunion! The CD features live performances of the the bandâs most popular original tunes and a couple tasty covers like âStage Frightâ, âOrange Blossom Specialâ and Steve Youngâs âLong Way To Hollywoodâ. Of special note...when Red Willow disbanded in 1984, fiddler Kenny Putnam and pianist Chris Gage joined up with Roy Clark, each appearing on the Grand Ole Opry, Hee Haw, and the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.
